Celestia contributor vesting hits its scheduled end

Celestia's supply page puts the TIA contributor vesting finish on its October 30 interval, while research tokens keep unlocking through the next yearly mark.

Celestia contributor vesting hits its scheduled end

Celestia (TIA) has reached the scheduled end of initial core-contributor vesting on its own supply timetable, and the detail that changes the reading is the pace. The staking, governance and supply page states that yearly unlock intervals fall on October 30 because 2024 was a leap year, and it gives October 30, 2024 as the year-1 example. Initial core contributors are 17.64% of the 1 billion TIA assigned at genesis. Of that line, 33.33% unlocked at year 1 and the remaining 66.67% unlocks continuously from year 1 to year 3, so the year-3 interval lands on October 30, 2026. Outside calendars have grouped a Celestia event on the last days of October. The issuer page describes the finish of a continuous release, while the research-and-ecosystem allocation, 26.79% of genesis supply, keeps vesting through year 4. The page does not state a token count, or a dollar value, for a single transfer on that date.

Mainnet Beta, codenamed Lemon Mint, went live at 14:00 UTC on October 31, 2023, the Celestia Foundation wrote in its launch post, and the supply page places yearly marks on October 30, a day earlier than that anniversary. Public allocation is 20.00% and was fully unlocked at launch, covering the Genesis Drop and Incentivized Testnet at 7.41% and future initiatives at 12.59%. Research and development unlocked 25.00% at launch, and the remaining 75.00% unlocks continuously from year 1 to year 4, which the October 30 rule puts on October 30, 2027. Seed backers at 15.90%, and Series A and B backers at 19.67%, each unlocked 33.33% at year 1, with the remaining 66.67% continuous from year 1 to year 2, finishing on October 30, 2025. The page treats circulating supply as TIA free to transfer on-chain, and available supply as that float plus unlocked tokens still awaiting a governance allocation.

The supply page says every token, locked or already free, may be staked, and that staking rewards unlock on receipt and add to circulating supply. Lotus, the v4 upgrade that page dates to July 2025, describes a tighter rule for lockup accounts. Under CIP-31, rewards earned by a lockup account join the lockup balance and the daily rate is recalculated over the time left, so principal and rewards follow one schedule. Rewards already claimed were left as they stood, while unclaimed accrued rewards moved onto that schedule. Lotus also caps validator commission at 25%, aimed at a holder taking a 100% commission in unlocked tokens. The on-receipt wording remains on the supply page, and the lockup-account change is the one Lotus adds.

Inflation runs on a separate pipe from the vesting table. The supply page records an 8% starting rate, a cut from about 7.2% to about 5.0% with Lotus under CIP-29, and a further cut to about 2.5% in the November 2025 v6 upgrade under CIP-41. The Matcha post that sets out CIP-41 also lifts the minimum validator commission from 5% to 10%, with disinflation of 6.7% a year until a 1.5% floor. Vesting and issuance are separate additions to supply, and the contributor line is the one whose continuous window ends at year 3.

Mustafa Al-Bassam, writing in the Vision 2.0 post on the Celestia blog on January 14, 2026, set fees beside that math: "Celestia blockspace is basically free as it’s set to a minimally low fee to prevent spam rather than trying to make revenue." Other tokens have turned on the same issuer-table test. Falcon Finance left the size dependent on which calendar a reader opened. EigenCloud and MemeCore each had to be read off the issuer's own release rule, and Rayls moved near-term float by rewriting insider terms. Celestia has kept the genesis percentages on the supply page, the document a custodian can cite when aggregators cluster on the month and split on the day.

After the year-3 interval, the contributor line's remaining 66.67% is scheduled to have unlocked across the window from October 30, 2024, and the research line's remaining 75.00% continues until October 30, 2027. Unlocked research tokens can sit in available supply until governance allocates them, which is the float distinction for a fund. The watch item on the digital-assets desk is whether Celestia edits the supply page, because an edit would change the footnote.
