EigenCloud unlock puts 36.82m EIGEN into circulation
EigenCloud unlock puts 36.82 million EIGEN into circulation under the foundation's 4% monthly insider rule. DefiLlama prices the cliff at $6.35 million.

The next EigenCloud unlock puts 36.82 million EIGEN into circulation, the figure produced when the Eigen Foundation's 4% monthly rule is applied to the investor and early-contributor allocations. DefiLlama's unlock calendar, opened on October 30, 2026, timestamps that cliff for October 31, 2026 at 13:15 UTC, values it at $6.35 million, and calls it 3.62% of circulating supply. Against the $44.64 million of EIGEN volume on the same page for the prior 24 hours, the cliff is about 14% of one reported trading day.
EigenCloud is the verifiable-cloud platform Eigen Labs built on EigenLayer, and EIGEN is the token that secures work on that stack. A calendar release changes who may transfer tokens, while the decision to sell, stake, or hold stays with the holder. The same gap showed up in the Falcon Finance unlock, a dispute over size, and the Ritual mainnet unlock, a question of who could stake. On ether, about a third of supply is already staked, with holders locking tokens again after they are free to move.
What the foundation documents fix
The foundation's April 29, 2024 announcement set the initial EIGEN supply at 1,673,646,668.28466 tokens, reserved 29.5% for investors and 25.5% for early contributors, and described a three-year lock: a full lock in year one, then 4% of each allocation each month over the following two years. The investor slice releases 19.75 million EIGEN at that rate, and the early-contributor slice releases 17.07 million EIGEN, together 36.82 million EIGEN. DefiLlama matches those rounded lines: 19.75 million EIGEN to investors at $3.41 million, and 17.07 million EIGEN to early contributors at $2.95 million.
Later foundation documentation dates transferability to September 30, 2024. Investor and core-contributor tokens stayed fully locked for one year after that day, then unlock at 4% a month, so the position is fully free three years after transferability, on September 30, 2027. A lock-up disclosure last revised on September 30, 2024 applies the same 4% monthly schedule to Eigen Foundation service providers and places full unlock on that three-year anniversary. The pages fix the rate and the end point, and leave the hour of each monthly release to outside calendars.
Where the named calendars split
DefiLlama places this EigenCloud unlock on October 31, 2026 at 13:15 UTC. Tokenomist's EigenCloud page, updated at 07:01 UTC on October 30, 2026, schedules the next unlock for November 1, 2026. Tokenomist showed EIGEN at $0.174, unlocked supply of 1,016,277,848, and a reported market cap of $175.78 million. DefiLlama showed a $0.17 price, a 10.74% decline over 24 hours, circulating supply of 1.016 billion EIGEN, a market cap of $175.34 million, and 24-hour volume of $44.64 million. The timestamps differ by hours, enough to push a headline across the month boundary while the 4% rule keeps the token count in place.
A pledge, and a separate inflation pipe
Sreeram Kannan, founder and chief executive at Eigen Labs, wrote in a February 27, 2026 letter: "I have not sold a single EIGEN token, and I have no intention of selling well past the full unlock in October 2027." The pledge binds the author of the letter. The investor line, the larger half of this month's 36.82 million, stays on the foundation schedule, and Kannan's October 2027 end date sits a month past the September 30, 2027 anniversary in the foundation documents. The letter points to ELIP-12 as a proposed route for passing EigenCloud activity value through to EIGEN, presented as a mechanism being introduced.
The insider cliff changes who may transfer tokens that already exist, while inflation mints new ones. The foundation's key-information page still describes a fixed annual inflation rate of 4% of the initial supply, used for programmatic incentives unless governance changes the rate. 4% of that initial supply is about 66.9 million EIGEN a year, so a supply model that stops at the EigenCloud unlock leaves the incentives mint out.
The foundation documents keep that 4% insider release running through the three-year anniversary. Each following month, at the $6.35 million DefiLlama assigned to this tranche, would free another block of about that dollar size if the price holds. If daily volume stays near the $44.64 million print and the spot price holds the $0.17 area through the first week after the EigenCloud unlock, the release was absorbed. Exchange inflows from wallets tied to the investor allocation, with a break away from that area, would show the calendar becoming the trade.
