NOK/SEK reaches 1.05700 by November 5, 2026 in the base case, 1.08296 in the bull case and 1.04402 in the bear case, because Riksbank hike talk overrides a straight extension of the year-to-date high.

The policy-rate gap is 2.75 percentage points, with Norges Bank at 4.50 per cent and the Riksbank at 1.75 per cent. Governor Erik Thedéen said on October 8, 2026 that a rise as early as November may be reasonable.

How the fixing and the two calendars were read
The spot is the Riksbank SEKNOKPMI observation of 1.06349 on October 23, 2026. The bank's exchange-rate FAQ says that from November 27, 2023 each rate is one Swedish krona against one unit of foreign currency, that the figures are European Central Bank (ECB) mid-prices converted into kronor, and that values publish at 16:15 on Swedish business days. Norges Bank series B.SEK.NOK.SP that day, at the ECB concertation time of 14:15 CET, is 94.03 Norwegian kroner per 100 Swedish kronor, and 100 divided by 94.03 rounds to 1.06349. Highs and lows use every SEKNOKPMI value from January 1, 2026 through October 23. Policy rates come from Norges Bank's policy-rate page and Riksbank series SECBREPOEFF, and Swedish inflation comes from Statistics Sweden. The Riksbank labels the rates indicative.
A 2026 high, with inflation on opposite sides of 2 per cent

NOK/SEK in this base case is Swedish kronor per one Norwegian krone, and the operative spot is the Riksbank SEKNOKPMI fixing of 1.06349 on October 23, 2026. The gap beside that print is 2.75 percentage points, Norges Bank at 4.50 per cent from September 25 and the Riksbank at 1.75 per cent. Inflation, on the latest official descriptions, sits on opposite sides of the shared 2 per cent target. Norges Bank's decision of September 24, 2026 records August consumer price index (CPI) inflation at 3.3 per cent and CPI adjusted for tax changes and excluding energy products (CPI-ATE) at 3.0 per cent. Statistics Sweden records the consumer price index with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) at 1.5 per cent in September 2026, up from 0.7 per cent in August, and CPIF excluding energy at 0.5 per cent in both of those months.
"I said that it may be reasonable to raise the policy rate as early as in November. I also considered the forecast for next year, which indicates further increases, to be reasonable yet associated with considerable uncertainty."
— Erik Thedéen, Governor, Sveriges Riksbank (Sveriges Riksbank, October 8, 2026)
Why hike talk overrides a straight extension of the October rise
The hike-news override says Governor Erik Thedéen's November remarks cap a further rise in NOK/SEK into the Norges Bank announcement on November 5, 2026. The cross is already at 1.06349 in Riksbank series SEKNOKPMI, which is 0.01947 above the September 24, 2026 fixing of 1.04402. One third of 0.01947 is 0.00649, and 1.06349 minus 0.00649 equals the base-case target of 1.05700 by November 5. Adding 0.01947 to 1.06349 sets the bull case at 1.08296, and adding 0.00649 to the October 23 high sets invalidation at 1.06998. Norges Bank's September text said the market was pricing a further rise in the Norwegian policy rate during 2026. Thedéen's October 8 remarks are the newer fact: a rise as early as November may be reasonable, further increases sit in the forecast for next year, and considerable uncertainty attaches to that path.
If the Riksbank leaves the policy rate at 1.75 per cent on November 4 and Norges Bank on November 5 raises the rate or repeats that it is prepared to raise the policy rate further, the upside map is 1.08296. The krone leg is covered in the GBP/NOK rate-gap case, and the krona side in the GBP/SEK note on krona risk. The same layout appears in the USD/CHF rate-gap case and on the forex desk.
What a one-third map leaves out
From the January 12, 2026 low of 0.91113 to the October 23 high, NOK/SEK rose by 0.15236, so a dip of 0.00649 is 4.26 per cent of that climb. Norges Bank said in September that oil and gas prices had risen since June and that the import-weighted I-44 was stronger than the June projection. Thedéen linked his worry to growth, energy prices and a weaker krona, while September CPIF excluding energy was 0.5 per cent, so a hold would point toward 1.08296.
"Inflation has been above target for several years. By raising the policy rate, we are helping to reduce inflation. It will likely be necessary to keep the policy rate elevated for a time, and the Committee is prepared to raise the policy rate further if needed to bring inflation down to the 2% target within a reasonable time horizon"
— Ida Wolden Bache, Governor, Norges Bank (Norges Bank, September 24, 2026)
What would invalidate the base case
The path to 1.05700 breaks if any one of these four signals prints:
- A SEKNOKPMI fixing above 1.06998 on any Swedish business day from October 24, 2026 through November 5, 2026. That would extend the October leg past the one-third slice.
- The Riksbank publishes 1.75 per cent on November 4, and Norges Bank on November 5 raises the policy rate or repeats that it is prepared to raise it further, which would point the cross toward 1.08296.
- A SEKNOKPMI fixing at 1.04402 or lower before the November 5 announcement. The fade would already have covered the whole leg from the hike-day fixing.
- Norges Bank cuts the policy rate on November 5, or the published path takes the rate down from 4.50 per cent. A lower Norwegian rate undercuts the climb from 1.04402.
What to watch into the November decisions
The Riksbank calendar lists the monetary-policy meeting on November 3, 2026, publication of the decision and the Monetary Policy Update at 09:30 on November 4, with the policy rate applying from November 11. The Norges Bank calendar and the policy-rate page place the next decision at 10:00 on November 5, 2026. The settling print is SEKNOKPMI on November 5, read against 1.05700, with 1.06998 above it and 1.04402 below it. Norges Bank's following decision, with the Monetary Policy Report, is on December 17.
TL;DR
NOK/SEK is 1.06349 Swedish kronor per Norwegian krone on the Riksbank fixing of October 23, 2026. The base case is 1.05700 by the Norges Bank decision on November 5, that high minus one third of the rise from the September 24 fixing of 1.04402. The bull case is 1.08296 if the Riksbank holds at 1.75 per cent and Norges Bank hikes or repeats a further hike, and the bear case retraces to 1.04402. The gap is 2.75 percentage points, August Norwegian CPI-ATE was 3.0 per cent and September Swedish CPIF was 1.5 per cent. A fixing above 1.06998 breaks the fade.
FAQ
What NOK/SEK spot does the base case use?
The spot is 1.06349 Swedish kronor per one Norwegian krone on the Sveriges Riksbank SEKNOKPMI observation for October 23, 2026, published at 16:15 as an ECB mid-price converted into kronor. Norges Bank recorded 94.03 Norwegian kroner per 100 Swedish kronor the same day at the ECB concertation time of 14:15 CET, and 100 divided by 94.03 rounds to 1.06349. The horizon reading is the SEKNOKPMI observation dated November 5, 2026.
When do the two central banks next set policy rates?
The Riksbank calendar puts the monetary-policy meeting on November 3, 2026 and publication of the decision, with the Monetary Policy Update, at 09:30 on November 4. That policy rate applies from November 11. Norges Bank's policy-rate page says the next decision will be announced on November 5, 2026, and the calendar lists it at 10:00. November 5 is the horizon because it is the later of the two announcements.
Why does the base case sit under the October 23 high?
The October 23 fixing of 1.06349 is the high of the 2026 daily sample and stands 0.01947 above 1.04402 on September 24, the hike-publication day. One third of that rise is 0.00649, and subtracting it produces 1.05700. The slice follows Governor Thedéen's October 8 statement that a Riksbank increase as early as November may be reasonable. The bull map of 1.08296 remains if the Riksbank holds at 1.75 per cent and Norges Bank keeps a further-hike line.
Which policy rates and inflation prints set the gap?
Norges Bank's policy rate is 4.50 per cent from September 25, 2026, after a rise from 4.25 per cent at the September 23 meeting. The Riksbank policy rate is 1.75 per cent, a gap of 2.75 percentage points. The September decision records August CPI at 3.3 per cent and CPI-ATE at 3.0 per cent.
