USD/DKK reaches 6.6646 by October 29, 2026 in the base case, 6.6874 in the bull case and 6.6169 in the bear case. The base case is Danmarks Nationalbank's October mean, and it stands only if the -40 basis point gap to the European Central Bank (ECB) deposit facility survives that press conference.
The October 16, 2026 dollar print was 664.25 kroner per 100 dollars, or 6.6425, which is 2.21 under the October mean of 666.46. The ECB calendar sets day one on 28/10/2026 and day two on 29/10/2026, followed by a press conference. This call runs to that date. It breaks if any one of four signals below prints. The forecast is the dollar fixing, not a break in the peg.

How the dollar fixing and the -40bp spread were measured
Pages were opened on October 19, 2026. Spot is the dollar feed: "100 USD cost 664.25 DKK", dated October 16. The dollar history and euro history hold 120 fixings from April 27 to October 16. ECB reference rates cross-check the dollar. Policy rates are the ECB key-rate table and the current-account XML. The horizon is the ECB calendar. The September account is not an October 19 price.
Prices below divide the kroner-per-100 fixing by 100. The mean uses 12 prints from October 1 through October 16. Percentiles use 76 two-session changes from July 1, read at the floor of p times 75. The rates are indicative. The October 19 fixing was not on the feed.
Where 6.6425 sits against the October mean
USD/DKK is Danmarks Nationalbank's daily kroner price of one dollar, published per 100 dollars. On October 16, 2026 that price was 664.25, or 6.6425. The 12 October prints per 100 dollars are 661.69, 665.80, 667.13, 663.30, 668.74, 668.15, 667.06, 668.53, 668.15, 667.74, 666.93 and 664.25. They sum to 7,997.47. Divided by 12 and rounded half-up to two decimals, the mean is 666.46, or 6.6646 a dollar. The step from October 16 is 2.21 per 100 dollars. On the 76 two-session changes since July 1, the 50th percentile is 1.35 per 100 dollars, the 75th is 3.00 and the 90th is 4.51, so 2.21 is inside the distribution, not beyond it. The largest move is 7.46, from 658.34 on September 30 to 665.80 on October 2, and the base case is smaller than that jump. These fixings are a reference, not a dealing rate.

Held at 7.4748 kroner per euro, 6.6646 lines up with 1.1216 dollars per euro. The same date is the horizon of the EUR/CAD call into October 29.
"I can assure you that we are not taking a view as to which direction we go at our next meeting."
— Christine Lagarde, President, European Central Bank (ECB monetary policy statement, September 10, 2026)
Why a matched decision points to 6.6646, not to a new band
An ECB decision reaches USD/DKK through the euro. The exchange-rate page keeps the krone around 7.46038 per euro. The FAQ sets the European Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM II) central rate at 746.038 per 100 euro, with edges at 762.824 and 729.252. October 16 was 747.48, and the April 27–October 16 sample stayed inside 747.16–747.59. The dollar has no band.
The September 23 Monetary and financial trends note says: "The fixed exchange rate policy means that, as a general rule, Danmarks Nationalbank follows the ECB's interest rate decisions." It followed hikes of 25 basis points in June and September, and the spread stayed at -40 basis points. The deposit facility is 2.50% from September 16, against 2.25% on June 17. The current-account rate is 2.10% from September 11, against 1.85% on June 12. A matched October 29 move, including a hold, leaves that gap, so the dollar fixing, not a new band, does the work. The bull case needs the euro back at 1.1177. The September 9-10 account says markets had priced 84 basis points of hikes by end-2027, while the Survey of Monetary Analysts median looked for only a final September hike. A hold that firms the euro is the path to 6.6169. The krona note into early November is a different leg.
"Therefore, we also find a limited average and no systematic impact of global uncertainty shocks on the Danish krone, in contrast to other currencies that tend to either systematically appreciate or depreciate in periods of market stress."
— Asger Munch Grønlund, Advisor, Danmarks Nationalbank, with Jakob Lunde Steffensen, Student Assistant (Danmarks Nationalbank staff paper, October 5, 2026)
That paper is the authors' view, not the bank's. It blocks a safe-haven story in which stress alone marks USD/DKK down. The channel they find is a euro-specific shock.
What a stable euro rate leaves out
Adding 7.46 per 100 dollars to 664.25 lands at 671.71, through 6.6646 and 6.6874. Subtracting it lands at 656.79, through 6.5834. A repeat of the September 30 to October 2 jump retires the mean before October 29.
The peg can still slip. The September 23 analysis says the krone weakened against the euro after February and that the bank intervened in June and August. Intervention moves the euro fixing, and therefore USD/DKK, even if the ECB holds. The 120-day euro range is 0.43 per 100 euro. The rand carry call is the same point on another gap.
What would invalidate this call
The base case to 6.6646 breaks if any one of these four signals prints:
- A dollar fixing below 6.5834. September 30 is 5.91 per 100 dollars under October 16, past the 4.51 reading at the 90th percentile since July 1.
- October 29 is not matched. The -40 basis point spread survives only if the current-account rate moves with the deposit facility, including by zero.
- The euro fixing leaves 747.16–747.59. That is the whole April 27–October 16 range. Outside it, the pinned-euro arithmetic fails.
- October 29 pre-commits to a further move on December 17. The next monetary policy day two on the calendar is 17/12/2026. A preset path would reprice the euro through the October mean.
Each signal is observable that day: the dollar fixing, the current-account XML, the euro fixing, or the wording of the statement. One is enough to retire 6.6646. The other three need not agree before October 29.
What to watch into the October 29 press conference
October 28 is day one and October 29 is day two. The calendar line reads "Governing Council of the ECB: monetary policy meeting in Frankfurt (Day 2), followed by press conference." The current-account XML shows whether the move was matched. Concertation is at 14:10, and Danish prices follow the ECB's 16:00 release. Set the dollar fixing against 6.6646, 6.6874 and 6.6169. The franc call into late October is a separate leg. December 17 is outside this horizon.
TL;DR
USD/DKK reaches 6.6646 by October 29, 2026 in the base case, 6.6874 at the October 7 high and 6.6169 at the October 1 low. Spot is 6.6425, from the October 16 fixing of 664.25 kroner per 100 dollars. The base case is that October mean, and it needs the -40 basis point gap between the 2.10% current-account rate and the 2.50% deposit facility to survive the press conference. The September 10 ECB statement puts average headline inflation at 3.0% in 2026. A daily fixing below 6.5834 invalidates the call. The euro is inside the peg. The dollar is not.
FAQ
What is the USD/DKK base case into the October 2026 ECB meeting?
The base case is 6.6646 kroner per dollar by October 29, 2026, the half-up mean of 12 Danmarks Nationalbank fixings from October 1 through October 16. Those prints sum to 7,997.47 per 100 dollars, or 666.46. Spot on October 16 was 6.6425. The bull case is 6.6874 and the bear case is 6.6169.
Does Danmarks Nationalbank set a band for the dollar?
No. The band is against the euro. The FAQ sets the ERM II central rate at 746.038 kroner per 100 euro and the narrower limits at 729.252 and 762.824, plus or minus 2.25%. The dollar has no ceiling and no floor. On October 16 the euro fixing was 747.48, 1.442 above the central rate. USD/DKK can move without that band being tested.
What is the monetary policy spread to the ECB?
It is -40 basis points. The current-account rate is 2.10% from September 11, 2026, and the deposit facility is 2.50% with effect from September 16. In June the gap was 1.85% against 2.25%. The September 23 analysis says the bank followed both 25 basis point hikes and that, as a general rule, it follows the ECB's interest rate decisions. A matched October 29 move keeps the spread.
What would invalidate the 6.6646 call?
A dollar fixing below 6.5834 retires it. That September 30 print is 658.34 per 100 dollars, 5.91 under October 16. The call also breaks if the current-account rate does not match the October 29 move, if the euro fixing leaves 747.16–747.59, or if the statement pre-commits to December 17. Any one of the four is enough.
Where does the 6.6425 spot come from?
It comes from Danmarks Nationalbank, not a news summary. The feed opened on October 19, 2026 shows an October 16 item, "100 USD cost 664.25 DKK", and 664.25 divided by 100 is 6.6425. The October 16 ECB pair, 7.4748 and 1.1253, crosses to the same 664.25. The rates are indicative. No later fixing was on the feed.
