Rene Keller Appointed as Standard Chartered’s CIO of Corporate Banking

Standard Chartered, a leading British multinational banking and financial services provider recently revealed in an announcement that it has hired a new executive for its Corporate Banking division. As per statement released by the firm, it has hired Mr. Rene W Keller to serve as its Chief Information Officer for Corporate, Commercial & Institutional Banking (CCIB). In his new role as CIO CCIB Technology & Innovation, Rene is responsible for the firm’s business technology strategy, architecture and delivery value chain which will drive strategic business outcomes. The incoming head of information is a veteran executive with 27 years of experience under his belt having served in numerous senior level management roles across industry leading banks and financial services. Given his extensive experience across major banks, exchange operators and investment service providers, Rene has become an expert in critical business applications across complex global environments.

Rene has a successful proven track record in IT Strategy Development and Implementation, Transformation and Digitalization and has led large global teams in near and offshore projects. Before joining Standard Chartered, he served in Deutsche Bank for nearly four years and held the roles of Managing Director of Information Technology and CIO for Private, Wealth and Corporate Clients. Prior to German bank, he served as Group CIO for European exchange operating giant Deutsche Borse for two and a half years. Prior to that, he served as Chief Operating Officer in Ireland based IT firm Information Mosaic heading up the firm’s product design, solutions & services delivery and quality assurance departments. Earlier in his career, he served as CIO for Swiss Life’s Switzerland division, Head of IT Application Development in Winterthur, IT Management roles in UBS, several senior level leadership roles in Credit Suisse and as Analyst/Programmer in SIX Swiss Exchange.

In his new role as CIO CCIB, Rene will be based out of the firm’s Singapore office and will be reporting to Dr. Michael Gorriz.
