Numeracle funding raises $28m for verified calling

Numeracle funding of $28 million from Edison Partners will push verified business identity beyond voice as carriers still mislabel banks and hospitals.

Numeracle funding raises $28m for verified calling

Numeracle funding of $28 million, led by Edison Partners, is a wager on verified business identity rather than a fresh spam-label appeal desk. Having watched payment firms buy identity checks after the money has already moved, I read the McLean, Virginia company's growth round as that purchase shifted one step earlier, onto the call a bank or clinic still has to complete.

Numeracle posted the announcement on October 28, 2026, though the release text is datelined October 15, 2026, while Edison Partners' copy is datelined October 28, 2026. Numeracle says the capital will grow go-to-market, sales, product and research teams and take the platform into new industries and regions.

Numeracle says annual recurring revenue rose 70% year over year while it verifies more than 4,000 enterprise brands across financial services, retail, healthcare and home services. Edison instead cites a 70% rise in annualized revenue run rate over 16 months, a different window.

Number-reputation tools usually appeal a spam label after watching the telephone number. Numeracle says it checks that a business is a real operating entity, ties that identity to the numbers it dials, and uses the file to head off a wrong label or to press the carrier to clear one. Verified firms can add branded calling so the name appears on the outbound call. A national study cited in the release found that 69% of United States consumers had missed, ignored or declined a call because they lacked trust in the caller ID.

Rebekah Johnson, founder and chief executive, told Crunchbase News that Edison was the sole investor, that Numeracle declined to disclose a valuation, and that total funding is now $34.8 million since 2018, including a $6.8 million Series A from December 2023. She said the company has about 85 employees, turned profitable this year, and draws about 90% of sales inquiries through unpaid inbound channels, from a business that still operates in the United States. Numeracle sells an annual subscription for label monitoring and a per-call fee for name, logo and reason for calling. European interest, she said, is why part of the new Numeracle funding goes to hiring and to messaging, chat apps, marketplaces and AI agents.

"We built Entity Identity Management because fraud and impersonation are not fundamentally communications problems, they are identity problems," said Rebekah Johnson, Founder and CEO at Numeracle. "With their partnership, we're ready to build the identity layer for every business interaction." She told Crunchbase News that AI-built businesses, with state filings and professional profiles, worry her more than synthetic voices. Lenard Marcus, General Partner at Edison Partners, said customers see "higher contact rates and greater customer confidence," and he cited one contact center whose answered calls rose from 19,000 to 22,000 out of 40,000 a month.

Rivals kept shipping and left this round off their news pages. On October 20, 2026, Hiya said Telefónica would put Hiya Connect Branded Call on Movistar and O2 in Spain, adding another 13 million lines, and that with Orange España the service reaches three in four Spanish users. Hiya's State of the Call page puts unanswered calls from unrecognized numbers at 86%. On October 28, 2026, First Orion wrote about branded calling in Ireland with Vodafone, after the United Kingdom and Germany. Six days earlier its ENRICH product, verified identity for Rich Communication Services (RCS), took a Mobile Breakthrough award. As of October 30, 2026, those news lists omit the Edison investment. The handset name is already a carrier product, and Numeracle is selling the vetted entity behind it.

This Numeracle funding round sits next to a payments pattern. A fraud alert or a card-confirmation call dies when the customer treats the number as spam. Visa agreed to buy BioCatch to stop fraud before a payment, Skyfire widened Forter's checks for AI-agent checkout, and TransFi built JARVIS to join Know Your Customer (KYC) review with chain monitoring. Know Your Customer as a Service (KYCaaS) is Numeracle's voice-channel version: a managed check a platform uses before it onboards a business. The company points to open Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rulemakings on carrier identity and vetting, and says a telecom can buy that stack instead of staffing one.

After compliance work at telecom provider West, Johnson joined the FCC Robocall Strike Force in 2016, warned that aggressive blocking would catch honest callers along with fraudulent ones, and founded Numeracle when that warning drew little follow-through. If vetting rules land on originating providers, the next buyer is as likely to be the carrier as the bank contact center. Europe is the geography she has named, and with the valuation withheld the two 70% statements are the size signal a payments executive can compare.

Company statements on funding and growth are not a recommendation to invest, to buy a verification service, or to change a calling program.
