USD/PEN reaches 3.3500 by November 12, 2026 in the base case, 3.2500 in the bull case and 3.4430 in the bear case. The base case is the top of the December daily-average range BBVA Research published on October 7, 2026. The exchange-rate page showed an interbank average of 3.4279 on October 15, 2026. The call breaks on a daily interbank average above 3.4520.

Key Levels:

• Asset: USD/PEN interbank average 3.4279 on October 15, 2026 — BCRP exchange-rate page, Datatec, 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
• Base case target: 3.3500 by November 12, 2026 — top of BBVA Research's December 2026 daily-average range, 3.25 to 3.35
• Bull case target: 3.2500 — floor of that BBVA range, and Carlos Prieto's September 10, 2026 year-end case if the surplus dominates
• Bear case target: 3.4430 — October 14, 2026 interbank high on the BCRP page
• Major support: 3.4220 — October 15, 2026 interbank low, Datatec via the BCRP page
• Major resistance: 3.4430 — October 14, 2026 interbank high, Datatec via the BCRP page
• Invalidation level: daily interbank average above 3.4520 — top of the band Felipe Mendoza published on October 14, 2026

How this USD/PEN call was built

The spot is the interbank average on the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) exchange-rate page, read on October 16, 2026. Datatec supplies that average. The horizon is November 12, 2026, the next monetary-programme date on the BCRP calendar. December 10, 2026 is the following row, not the horizon.

Base and bull levels come from BBVA Research's October 7 outlook: a December 2026 daily average of 3.25 to 3.35. Invalidation is Felipe Mendoza's October 14 band. Twelve-month expectations are BCRPData series PD38049AM through September 2026. Positioning and option skew were not opened. The October 7 note PDF did not open, so rates and inflation come from BBVA Research's October 8 review.

USD/PEN is the onshore price of one US dollar in Peruvian soles, not a dollar price of the sol. The latest full session on the BCRP exchange-rate page was October 15, with an interbank average of 3.4279, a low of 3.4220 and a high of 3.4350, and a bank selling close of 3.4230, up 0.50% over 12 months and 1.75% in 2026. The October 14 average was higher, at 3.4367. The base case of 3.3500 is the top of BBVA Research's December 2026 daily-average range of 3.25 to 3.35, published on October 7, and it sits below that October 15 average. Series PD38049AM, the twelve-month expectation, was 3.40 in September, 3.39 in August and 3.37 in July. Reaching 3.3500 by November 12 would put the interbank average at a December range before that month's average exists.

Why the external surplus can still pull USD/PEN to 3.3500

The external-surplus case for USD/PEN is about export dollars, not the policy rate. On October 7, 2026 the board held the reference rate at 4.25% for a 13th consecutive month, BBVA Research wrote on October 8. Nine of 13 Bloomberg analysts had expected a rise. Inflation went from 4.4% in August to 4.5% in September, expectations stayed at 3.1%, and the ex-ante real rate was 1.16%, below a neutral rate around 2%. The outlook still looks for a large external surplus, describes the target as 2% plus or minus one percentage point, and cuts growth to 2.9% for 2026 and 2027 because El Niño is hitting output. The fiscal deficit was 1.0% of gross domestic product in August, from 2.2% at the end of last year. The base case asks whether the average can reach 3.3500, the top of the December range of 3.25 to 3.35, by November 12.

Prieto told RPP on September 10 that the year-end case was around 3.25, or around 3.30 if the Federal Reserve (Fed) raises again, against an interbank rate RPP cited at 3.3740 that day. The October 15 average of 3.4279 is higher, so the path has not been straight. It also sits above that 3.30 case. The copper note already on file is a separate call. The steelman is the same set of pages: policy is easy, and Infobae reported a Fed range of 3.75% to 4.00% from September 17, 2026. A wider dollar-rate gap, with Lima on hold, is how a surplus currency still cheapens.

What the framework leaves out

The note uses other people's levels. It does not estimate a fair value, and it does not see intervention. Prieto told RPP the BCRP had sold dollars earlier in the year to slow an appreciation. No October size was opened here, so official sales could hold the average above 3.3500. There is a timing gap too. BBVA's 3.25 to 3.35 is a December average, and Prieto's 3.25 was a September 10 year-end line, when the cited interbank rate was 3.3740. By October 15 the average was 3.4279, higher, not lower. BBVA also puts year-end inflation near 5.0%. PD38049AM at 3.40 in September is a twelve-month expectation, and Infobae's end-2026 financial-system figure is 3.35. Neither figure is a November 12 forecast. That four-week window is this note's choice, not a date either bank set. The call does not forecast the November 12 vote. It sets the level that vote is judged against.

"Por el contrario, si los datos del PIB decepcionan o si persiste la aversión al riesgo en los mercados de commodities por el reajuste en los tipos de interés de la Reserva Federal, la paridad rebotará con fuerza hacia las resistencias inmediatas ubicadas en la franja de los 3,4450 a 3,4520 soles por dólar."

— Felipe Mendoza, market analyst, EBC Financial Group (Revista Economía)

What would invalidate this call

The base case to 3.3500 by November 12 breaks if any one of these four signals prints:

  • A Datatec interbank average above 3.4520. That is the top of Mendoza's October 14 band. The October 15 average, 3.4279, stayed under it. A later average above 3.4520 would also clear the October 14 high of 3.4430.
  • The November 12 note holds 4.25% and drops the short-term adjustment line. BBVA's October 8 review said the hold still allowed a near-term change. Dropping that line leaves the real stance easy.
  • The next PD38049AM print is above 3.40. September was 3.40, up from 3.37 in July. A higher print marks a weaker sol over the next year, against a base case that needs 3.3500 within weeks.
  • The bank selling close prints above 3.4440. That was the October 14 opening. October 15 already cut the year-to-date change on the selling quote from 2.23% to 1.75%. A close through 3.4440 retakes that high.

What to watch into the November 12 meeting

November 12, 2026 is the next row on the BCRP calendar. October 7 already links to a note. November 12 does not, and December 10 sits outside this horizon. An interbank average under 3.4279 leaves the base case intact. One above 3.4430 looks like Mendoza's rebound. No Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) calendar was opened, so this note sets no Fed date. The Datatec average on the BCRP page is the check against 3.3500. Another Fed rise, on Prieto's September 10 line, points his year-end case towards 3.30 rather than 3.25. The forex desk and the market-news file hold the other calls.

TL;DR

USD/PEN, soles per dollar, has a base case of 3.3500 by November 12, 2026, a bull case of 3.2500 and a bear case of 3.4430. The spot is the BCRP interbank average of 3.4279 on October 15, 2026. The 3.3500 level is the top of BBVA Research's December daily-average range of 3.25 to 3.35. The path is the external surplus, not the hold at 4.25%. The call is wrong if the interbank average prints above 3.4520 before that November 12 meeting.

FAQ

What is the USD/PEN base case into November 12, 2026?

The base case is an interbank average of 3.3500 by November 12, 2026. That figure is the top of BBVA Research's December 2026 range of 3.25 to 3.35 soles per dollar, published on October 7. Infobae's October 9 account of the BCRP survey put the financial system at 3.35 for the end of 2026.

Where does the November 12 date come from?

It is the next monetary-programme row on the BCRP calendar of informative notes, in the 2026 table. October 7, 2026 already links to a note. November 12 is the next row, and December 10 is the one after. This call uses November 12 only. The date was read from that calendar on October 16, 2026.

What rate did the BCRP publish for October 15, 2026?

The page showed an interbank low of 3.4220, a high of 3.4350 and an average of 3.4279, from Datatec. The bank selling quotation opened at 3.4375 and closed at 3.4230, up 0.50% over 12 months and 1.75% in 2026. October 14 had an average of 3.4367 and a selling close of 3.4390.

What would invalidate the call?

A daily interbank average above 3.4520 on the BCRP page. That is the top of the band Felipe Mendoza of EBC Financial Group published on October 14, 2026, from 3.4450 to 3.4520. The call also fails if the November 12 note holds 4.25% and drops the adjustment line, or if PD38049AM prints above 3.40.
