Sandra Rivera Appointed as Member of Equinix’s Board of Directors 

Sandra RiveraEquinix, California’s headquartered Nasdaq listed internet connectivity and data center service provider recently revealed in a statement that the firm has made yet another change to its high-level management team. In less than a month after the appointment of the new Chief Technology Officer, the firm has now appointed a new member to its board of directors.

According to an update released by the firm on Tuesday, it has appointed Ms. Sandra Rivera to the board alongside the existing board of directors bringing the total number of board members to 10. Aside from her role as Board of Director, she will also serve as a member of the board’s compensation committee. Sandra is a veteran with nearly 34 years of experience serving in roles ranging from sales and marketing to several high-level management and leadership roles in telecommunication, technology service providers. 

Before taking up her current role as a member of the board of directors at Equinix, she had been serving for nearly 19 years in Silicon Valley-based microprocessor manufacturing tech giant Intel Corporation. Sandra joined Intel Corp back in November of 2000 in the role of Marketing Director and was promoted five times during her two-decade-long career at the firm. At the time of resignation from the firm, she was serving in the role of Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer – a role which she had held for nearly five months.

Sandra spent a bulk of her tenure in Intel Corp’s Network Platforms Group where she served for more than 10 years. Before Intel Corp, she served as Member of Board and Marketing Committee Chair at OPNFV. Before OPNFV, she co-founded The CTI Authority in which she served as President until its acquisition by Catalyst Telecom post which she served as General Manager of the merged entity’s Computer Telephony Division. 

Rivera started her career as a Rotating Engineer Program at The Westinghouse Corporation in June of 1985 post graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University. Sandra then moved on to Dialogic Corporation where she served as a Sales Manager and was promoted to the role of Director of Sales for Eastern Region. After serving at Dialogic Corp for nearly 7 years she went on to become the Co-Founder of her own firm CTI Authority which acted as a distributor of computer telephony integration products.

Speaking about Sandra’s appointment at the firm, Peter Van Camp – Executive Chairman at Equinix commented, “Sandra brings more than 20 years of experience in the networking and communications technology space to the Equinix Board of Directors. Her background at Intel and other leading technology companies will bring a valuable perspective to the Board as Equinix continues to develop its global interconnection and data center platform that is a key ingredient in the IT infrastructure of today’s businesses”.
