US Broker SageTrader Deploys Eventus’ Equities Surveillance Platform

The US broker-dealer will leverage the cloud-based version of the Validus platform to trade surveillance combining both machine-learning and procedural technologies to detect potential manipulative behavior and insider trading.

SageTrader, LLC, a San Francisco and New York-based broker-dealer has chosen Eventus Systems for equities market surveillance, having deployed the cloud version of the Validus platform for trade surveillance.

Eventus’ cost-effective cloud offering was recently chosen by GAIN Capital. The leading broker, which operates as a non-clearing futures commission merchant (FCM), has gone live with Eventus’ surveillance program, the cloud-based version of the Validus platform to manage the market surveillance program for its futures operation.

Leveraging the Validus approach to trade surveillance combining both machine-learning (ML) and procedural technologies to detect potential manipulative behavior and insider trading, SageTrader will benefit from the package’s reduced instances of false positives and increased analysis of valid alerts developed by the leading global trade surveillance and market risk platform provider.

Travis Schwab, Chief Executive Officer at Eventus Systems, commented: “We’re very proud to work with SageTrader to meet the firm’s equity trade surveillance needs. This is a great example of how our machine-learning capabilities provide a real value-added service to a client.”

Dan Weingarten, Chief Executive Officer at SageTrader, said: “Since our implementation of the system in the fourth quarter of 2018, we have been particularly pleased with the Validus system and the entire Eventus team. Eventus offered many out-of-the-box integrations that allowed us to quickly deploy the system into our infrastructure and start processing and analyzing our trade data. We’re committed to having a robust surveillance infrastructure while giving our compliance staff a great tool for one of their most critical functions.”

Eventus has recently integrated Sterling Trading Tech’s Cloud-Based Analytics Engine (SRE) into its Validus platform to benefit mutual customers. Sterling provides links to over 80 execution venues in the United States for leading brokers, clearing firms and prop groups. The firm currently processes 5% of the daily US equity volume.
