Guava raises $12.5 million seed for AI voice agents
Guava, the Los Angeles voice-agent developer, raised $12.5 million in seed funding led by Acrew Capital to take regulated calls from pilot into production.

Guava, the Los Angeles developer of a platform for artificial intelligence (AI) voice agents, raised $12.5 million in seed financing on November 3, 2026. Having watched card-issuing infrastructure since Marqeta's public-market filing, I read Guava's raise as that same bet moved onto the phone: the customer keeps the intent, and the vendor owns the rail that carries the conversation. Guava's Business Wire release names Acrew Capital as lead investor, with Flourish Ventures, WillowTree Ventures, Clocktower Ventures and pre-seed investor Commerce Ventures participating. Meticulous Research, the forecaster the release cites, estimates the voice AI agents market at $5.10 billion in 2026 and $43.83 billion by 2036, and it expects banking, financial services and insurance to hold the largest end-user share.
The wire is issued in the name Guava. The terms of service on goguava.ai, last modified July 7, 2026, identify the contracting party as Guava AI Systems, Inc., with a notice address at 1375 E 6th Street, Unit 2, Los Angeles, California 90021. The release lists Head of Marketing Ankur Thakkar at ankur@goguava.ai as the media contact.
What the seed finances
The November 3 release says the capital will support continued model and product development and a go-to-market team for enterprises and business process outsourcers (BPOs). Daytona, Guava's first public model, launched in September and already supports more than a dozen enterprise customers and tens of thousands of calls a day. An enterprise buyer typically places a first live regulated call within 14 days of kickoff, and the release says Daytona has ranked in the top 10 on Coval's word error rate benchmark, often first or second.
Guava runs its own speech recognition, language models and speech synthesis as one stack, with intent set in code through Python, TypeScript or Claude Code. The release says that stack rests on more than a decade of Gridspace model work, trained on more than 10 billion minutes of live conversations in regulated call centers. Co-founder and Chief Executive Omri Dahan, a former Gridspace investor, built the company with Gridspace technical co-founders Anthony Scodary and Nico Benitez and with Mike Piechna. Dahan had been chief revenue officer at Marqeta through its public-market filing.
Rivals left the round unanswered
FinSMEs on November 3 and Fintech Global on November 6 repeat the investor list and Dahan's comments, and they carry no statement from ElevenLabs, Vapi or Retell AI. Those three sit on the Meticulous Research list of profiled vendors, beside a record that ElevenLabs raised $500 million at an $11 billion valuation in February 2026. Guava's release makes the contrast explicit: most voice agents, it argues, are stitched together from other vendors' components and steered largely through prompts, while a buyer here is paying for control of one pipeline.
A payments operator on the call
"Nearly every company we spoke with was dissatisfied with the voice AI they'd tried. It sounds fine in a demo but breaks down on real, high-stakes calls," Dahan said in the release. Emmalyn Shaw, Co-founder and Managing Partner of Flourish Ventures, said businesses need "code-level control and consistency, along with flexibility in how and where it's deployed." Flourish's note names healthcare intake, insurance claims, bank Know Your Customer (KYC), collections and member services. The same day, Industry Spread reported that Flourish led PowerUp Money's $10 million round. Numeracle's $28 million raise for verified calling covers which number may reach a handset, and Outmarket AI's $17 million Series A put insurtech AI capital beside the policy while Guava bids for the call.
Anthony Scodary, Co-founder and Co-Head of Engineering at Guava, said, "When you stitch together other people's models, you inherit their latency, their failure modes and their release schedules," and that the funding is meant for edge devices, on-premises installations and full-duplex speech, where the agent listens and talks at the same time. Meticulous Research records that on February 8, 2024 the Federal Communications Commission ruled AI-generated voices artificial under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), so those calls need prior express consent. A bank compliance team will test the 14-day claim against that consent rule and against where the audio sits, which is why the on-premises line decides whether a pilot becomes a book of calls.
What the round buys next
The scarce item the release names is a go-to-market team that can move enterprises and BPOs from pilot to production, because Daytona is already taking live volume. If procurement stalls on consent or data residency, Scodary's on-premises and full-duplex work becomes the whole use of proceeds. The seed looks small beside ElevenLabs' February round because voice at household scale and voice inside a bank's rules are different products, and Guava is raising for the second one.
