BWOW cash distribution is due at the October 21 NAV
BWOW reaches the cash date Bitwise set on September 10. Holders still in after the October 14 NYSE Arca session are due the October 21 net asset value.

October 22, 2026 is not a new decision to shut the Bitwise Dogecoin ETF (BWOW). It is the cash date Bitwise Investment Advisers, LLC set on September 10, when the sponsor said it would liquidate the trust. Holders who did not sell by the October 14 close on NYSE Arca are due cash equal to net asset value as of October 21. The September notice set October 14 as both the last session and the day to convert Dogecoin to cash, and it stopped creations before the October 15 open. After that, BWOW is a cash claim, the same shape as a single-commodity exchange-traded product (ETP) that sells its inventory on the final session and leaves holders with dollars.
September already set October 22
The September 10 press release, an exhibit to the Form 8-K, says remaining shareholders receive that October 21 net asset value in cash on October 22, and that they need take no action. Decrypt reported the timetable on September 11. The 8-K, signed that day by Paul Fusaro, chief operating officer and secretary of the sponsor, is wider. Holdings will be liquidated by October 22 or shortly thereafter. Proceeds are scheduled on or about October 22, at net asset value as of the liquidation date. The cash goes into the cash side of brokerage accounts, the distributions are taxable, and once liquidation is under way the trust will not be managed to its investment objective. Neither document prints a dollar figure for October 21. No later filing opened for this piece does either.
The June 30, 2026 Form 10-Q says creations and redemptions run in baskets of 10,000 shares with Authorized Participants. BNY Mellon holds the cash. Coinbase Custody Trust Company, LLC holds the Dogecoin, in a market where Coinbase already holds the ETF custody mandate. Bitwise gave one reason: it is liquidating BWOW as it continues to "optimize its product range to meet evolving investor needs." It cited no price, flow or assets threshold. The same release describes the firm, not the fund, as having $9 billion in client assets and more than 70 products. It has filed to record BSOL shares on Ethereum beside DTC, and it has added staking to a spot NEAR ETF filing. On October 13 the trust filed Form 25 to withdraw the shares from NYSE Arca and from Exchange Act registration under Rule 12d2-2(c).
Chief Executive Hunter Horsley had argued the other way at launch. In Bitwise's November 2025 release he said the firm was launching BWOW "because many DOGE holders, a community that numbers in the millions, want the benefit that comes from getting exposure to crypto in an ETP format, and we believe they should have it." Trading began on November 26, 2025, a day after the registration became effective and Bitwise Investment Manager, LLC bought 100,000 shares at $25, or $2,500,000. On October 8 he told The Block, at Digital Asset Summit 2026 Asia:
"Those ETFs did nothing … The users of ETFs just didn't want to put money into Dogecoin. But that may change over time."
The Block also reported that he called the result "tragic." He did not change the date. Truth Social's May withdrawal of Bitcoin ETF filings was a fee fight over filings, not shares. BWOW had already listed.
The last balance sheet is not the payout. The trust was organized on November 6, 2025. Bitwise Investment Advisers, LLC is the sponsor. The 10-Q calls BWOW an ETP whose sole asset is Dogecoin. The sponsor fee is 0.34% a year of those holdings. Net asset value uses the CF Dogecoin-Dollar US Settlement Price. At December 31, 2025 the trust held 9,857,901.6165 Dogecoin, fair value $1,152,882, net assets $1,152,815, 60,000 shares, $19.21 a share. At June 30, 2026 it held 6,561,841.7808 Dogecoin, fair value $473,699 against a cost of $999,163, net assets $473,547, 40,000 shares, $11.84 a share, no cash, and a sponsor fee payable of $152. The six months to June 30 show net assets down $679,268, redemptions of $406,971, no creations and a sponsor fee of $1,215. That book is not the October 21 net asset value, which the September notice left unpublished.
Foreside Fund Services, LLC, the marketing agent, is not affiliated with the sponsor. Nothing in the 8-K, the exhibit or the Form 25 states a holdback or a per-share amount for October 21. Until a filing prints that net asset value, or reports the cash as paid, October 22 remains the date the September notice already set.
