SET’s Board Appoints Chaiyawat Wibulswasdi as SET Chairman

SET Chaiyawat WibulswasdiBANGKOK, August 6, 2019 – The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)’s Board of  Governors (BoG) today resolved to appoint Chaiyawat Wibulswasdi as Chairman of the BoG, effective today onwards until the completion of his tenure as a governor of SET.

SET’s Executive Vice President Rongrak Phanapavudhikul as Secretary of the BoG  said that, pursuant to the Securities and Exchange Act (No. 6) B.E. 2562 (A.D. 2019), effective from April 17, 2019, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and SET’s broker members are required to appoint or elect SET’s new governors within 120 days from the effective date of the Act or within August 14, 2019. In this connection, at the extraordinary meeting of broker members on June 26, 2019, four governors were elected as SET’s governors, and on August 1, 2019, the other six governors were appointed by the SEC. All 10 governors have a three-year tenure with effect from August 5, 2019 onwards.

Presently, SET’s BoG consists of 11 governors having Chaiyawat Wibulswasdi as  Chairman, Pattera Dilokrungthirapop as Vice Chairwoman, while the other governors are Kitipong Urapeepatanapong, Charamporn Jotikasthira, Thiti Tantikulanan, Norachet Sangruji, Paiboon Nalinthrangkurn, Voravan Tarapoom, Seree Nonthasoot and Sopawadee Lertmanaschai, including Pakorn Peetathawatchai who also serves as the President.
