UniCredit, a leading Italian headquartered multinational banking and financial service provider has revealed the addition of new executive to its senior level leadership and management team. As per statement released by the firm, it has onboarded Mrs. Roberta Marracino to serve in the role of Head of Group ESG Strategy & Impact banking effectively making her a member of the firm’s executive management committee (EMC). Roberta’s new role at the firm is set to take effect from 1st July, 2020. In her new role, Mrs. Marracino will be responsible for defining the group strategy and focus on dedicated execution of Group’s environmental, social and governance initiatives and commitments. Roberta will also be in-charge of the Group’s social impact bank and co-ordinate the UniCredit Foundation’s activities.
Roberta will be based out of firm’s headquarters in Milan and report to Head of Finance and Controls – Wouter Devriendt. The incoming executive is a season veteran in financial services industry with 27 years of experience having served under some of European market’s leading brand and holds immense knowledge and experience in strategic advice, risk evaluation and institutional affairs. Roberta is currently serving as Head of Business Innovation & Market Management In Zurich Insurance Plc having held the role for nearly two years now. Aside from her role at Zurich Insurance, she also serves as member of the board at BPER Banca having been a part of Bank’s board of directors for more than three years now. Before her term with Zurich Insurance Plc, she served as Executive Director of Research at SACE for four and a half years.
Some of her other notable roles include – Member of Board of Directors & Executive Committee at Valore D, Director of Research & Communication for Mediterranean Complex in McKinsey & Company, Senior Manager of Strategic Analysis Dept at BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas and Manager of information center and strategic analysis unit at Capgemini. Mr. Maurizio Beretta who was responsible for successful development of UniCredit’s ESG and Social Impact banking initiatives will continue to remain a part of the firm and will now serve in roles of President of UniCredit Foundation and Head of Group Institutional Affairs and also serve alongside Mrs. Roberta Marracino as member of UniCredit’s Executive Management Committee.
