US-based NASDAQ listed internet connectivity and data center service provider Equinix is seeing a lot of changes and additions to its top-level leadership and management executives.
In less than a month, according to the latest statement released by the firm, it has hired its fourth executive for top-level leadership roles. As per the update, the California based data center operator is seeing a new addition to its leadership team with the appointment of Mr. Michael Montoya as its Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
His appointment at the firm is effective immediately and he will be working from the firm’s office located in the San Francisco Bay Area. The statement mentioned that his addition to the top-level leadership role comes as a part of its efforts and commitment to bolster its data security. In the role of CISO, Michael is now responsible for leading the firm’s global cybersecurity risk program. To be precise as CISO, Michael is expected to work on evolving the firm’s information security program and defining the firm’s future cybersecurity roadmap by taking care of enterprise risk management and compliance programs.
To accomplish this goal, Michael is expected to work closely with Equinix’s product development, Operations, IT, compliance and business continuity teams, thereby ensuring that the firm has a world-class approach to securing its global assets as well as providing the most secure environment for its customers. The incoming executive is a veteran in information security and technology with more than two decades of experience in the said sector.
Having served in various roles at top software and IT tech firms in high-level roles, he has gained extensive experience overseeing global cybersecurity programs and has also served as an advisor for large enterprises, governments, and regulators across global markets. Prior to taking up his new role at Equinix, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at another US-based IT services provider Digital Realty which is also known for its Data Centers and Interconnection services. He has also served as an information security officer in several other industry-leading firms such as FireEye, Microsoft, Dell EMC, Avanade, and New Mexico MEP.
