Marex Spectron On-boards Christian Lusted as Head of Institutional Sales for Metals Divison

Christian Lusted Marex Spectron, the UK based brokerage renowned for its electronic trading and clearing services for CFD’s and energy sector has revealed the addition of a new senior-level executive at the firm.

As per the statement released by the firm, it has on-boarded Mr. Christian Lusted to serve as head of institutional sales for its metals division. Marex Spectron’s metals division is popular among global metals trading circle as it has a wide product range made up of base, precious, and ferrous metals under a single label.

In his new role as head of the institutional sales for metals division, Mr. Lusted will be responsible for building the division across hedge funds, CTA’s and trading houses. The incoming executive is a veteran with more than two decades of experience under his belt and is an expert in metals trading and marketing given his vast career under some of the industry’s leading banking and investment service providers. 

Prior to taking up his current role with Marex Spectron, Christian spent nearly 10 years serving under US lending giant Citi Group. Christian served as one of the directors for the multinational banking giant and was in charge of its commodity hedge fund sales (Director of Commodities) for the EMEA region under the brand label of Citi Group Global Markets Limited. As head of hedge fund sales, he built up the bank’s EMEA hedge fund and investor business across the commodities sector and held a successful track record during his nine and a half year-long tenure with the firm.

Prior to joining Citi Group, he served in the role of Marketing Capacity for Base and Precious Metals division under BNP Paribas and Amalgamated Metal Trading as per information in his LinkedIn account. Earlier in his career, he had served as Associate Director for Base and Precious Metals Marketing division in Bank of Nova Scotia for nearly five years.

It should be noted that Marex Spectron is a CAT 1 member on the London Metals Exchange and offers execution, liquidity and high-quality market insight services across a wide range of metals and provides execution and clearing services for exchange-traded derivatives on LME, CME, HKEX, and DGCX as well as several off-exchange precious metals products. In December of 2019, the firm made headlines for acquiring Marquee Oil Broking Ltd in its bid to strengthen its capabilities in the physical energy and shipping markets.
