James Marsden Is New Head of eFX trading At NatWest Markets

NatWest Market, the investment banking arm of the Royal Bank of Scotland group is seeing lot of changes to high level posts but all changes has been made with only in house employees this time around.  James Marsden who previously served at the parent company has now been appointed as head of eFX quant trading at their London office. As per information in his linked in webpage, James Marsden has been part of RBS family for more than a decade now. Prior to his role as head of eFX Quant trading at NatWest Markets, UK, James was serving in RBS as the head of eFX trading in their Singapore office and was in charge of their operations across Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. James joined RBS family back in 2007 and has spent majority of his time at RBS in their Singapore office.

He joined the banking giant as VP of Quant solutions in the London office but was promoted to director of Quant Solutions for entirety of APAC region in less than two years. While serving in Quant solution department, he over saw business related to fixed income, commodities and currency trading.  In less than a year after moving to the bank’s Singapore office he was promoted to Director of Head of eFX trading for APAC region. During his tenure in Singapore office, he played a major role in improving their operations in said region and was instrumental in ensuring that the eFX trading desk in Asia grew steadily becoming one their highly profitable wing. Having managed to turn operations in Asia-Pacific region into a highly profitable venture during his tenure for over 10 successful years, he has now been called back to London.

This time to serve in same capacity as head of eFX Quant trading in RBS’s subsidiary NatWest markets. Meanwhile, his post in Singapore office has been assigned to Sudeep Gupta, who has been working under him in the same department for last 3 years. James has over 18 years of industry experience making him a veteran and while he served in RBS for better part of his career prior to joining RBS, James worked as Vice President of research and asset manager at UK based investment firm – Pareto Investment Management Ltd for nearly 8 years. Prior to appointment of James as Head of eFX Quant Trading , NatWest Market made few other major changes to its forex trading teams this year including appointment of Martin Amann as director of their US office.
