eToroX Labs Appoints Dr Omri Ross as its Chief Blockchain Scientist

eToroX Labs, eToro’s regulated cryptocurrency arm has added veteran Omri Ross as its Chief Blockchain Scientist.

Mr Ross joins the eToroX, following eToro’s acquisition of blockchain firm Firmo Network which he founded and was the CEO. The startup was focused on providing infrastructure for derivatives and other financial contracts on blockchain technology. 

At eToroX, Ross will focus on developing blockchain solutions to enhance the company’s capabilities in this emerging technology. He will be based out of the group’s Copenhagen office to conduct his business.

Mr Ross has earned his Doctorate in mathematical finance from the University of Cambridge. He has also assisted the University of Copenhagen to design and create its first academic course on blockchain technology. Dr Ross is also associated with the University Copenhagen as an assistant professor.

At Firmo, the company he founded was engaged in providing consultancy services for many blockchain companies including Bancor and Colu. Mr Ross was also working as an advisor to governments, large banks and corporated on the subject related to blockchain technology. 

Prior to the acquisition, the Firmo team was tasked with tokenizing the assets on the eToro platform. Ross will leverage his experience in the blockchain technology and in Firmo to help eToroX to bring out financial contracts to the blockchain with a domain specific language, that translates smart derivative contracts to all major blockchain platforms.

Post takeover of Firmo, eToro announced that the Firmo team will act as an internal innovation unit and will focus on tokenizing all assets on eToro platform. This includes research and creation of a necessary technological infrastructure to support the tokenization of assets.

eToroX was established last year when the world witnessed the real potential of the blockchain and cryptocurrencies in terms of value. The firm helps in executing eToro vision around blockchain including its plans to come up with a crypto exchange. eToro has released its proprietary cryptocurrency wallet and has also obtained Gibraltar’s financial services watchdog’s license for blockchain firm.
