CISI to Recognize ACIFMA Programmes, Treated as Equivalent

ACI Financial Markets Association (ACIFMA) a global trade body based in France, has partnered with Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) to promote ethical conduct and integrity across their combined 53,000-strong global membership.

Both entities will collaborate to deliver education tools to global financial markets using mutual networks in an effort to raise professional standards in markets globally. ACIFMA, with over 8,000 international members in five continents, and CISI, with 45,000 global members, have signed an agreement that encompasses qualifications, membership, ethics and CPD content.

The partnership will include mutual recognition of some ACIFMA programmes being treated as equivalent to a CISI examination unit for the CISI Investment Operations Certificate (IOC). This will allow CISI Investment Operations Certificate (IOC) candidates who hold either a ACIFMA Dealing Certificate or ACIFMA Operations Certificate to complete the IOC by sitting just the International Introduction to Securities & Investment and one, rather than two, IOC technical exam units. CISI will also recognise the ACIFMA Diploma as an appropriate external qualification but ACIFMA members wishing to apply for CISI membership will require a minimum of three years relevant industry experience.
Simon Culhane, Chartered FCSI, CISI CEO, said: “We are delighted to renew and expand our partnership the ACIFMA, which has a proud history since 1955. The synergies between our two organisations are exciting for both sets of members, global market clients and customers. We look forward to working together on the further raising of professional standards in markets globally.”

Bruno Langfritz, Chairman of ACIFMA, said: “We are entering in a new area of collaboration with CISI, the leading global organisation for examinations and qualifications. The main objectives of this partnership are the promotion of ethical conduct and integrity, which are in today’s world, two of the most critical topics for financial markets. The combined journey forward of CISI and ACIFMA will bring additional positive developments for the industry and to our combined members.”

Over 40,000 CISI examinations were sat in 80 countries in the last twelve months. The entity is spread across the world, with 45,000 members in 104 countries, as a renowned professional body which sets examinations and offers qualifications for those working in or looking to establish a career in the financial planning, wealth management and capital markets profession.
