BNP Paribas AM Taps Maya Bhandari As Global Head of Multi-Asset

BNP Paribas Asset Management (‘BNPP AM’) has appointed Maya Bhandari as Global Head of Multi-Asset, reporting to Denis Panel, CIO of Multi-Asset, Quantitative & Solutions.

Effective from 1st November and based in London, she will be responsible for further developing BNPP AM’s multi-asset business, with a particular focus on strengthening the investment process, and delivering consistent and strong returns for clients.

Maya Bhandari is a thought leader who provides fundamental research and will continue to do so under the new role, as well as the continued integration of ESG within our multi-asset offering.

She joins BNP Paribas Asset Management from Columbia Threadneedle Investments (‘CTI’) where she was Executive Director of the Multi-Asset Portfolio business, managing and co-managing a global range of diversified growth, multi-asset income and institutional mandates.

There, she was a thought leader, chairing monthly Economics meetings and frequent thought pieces published while being a Deputy Chair for Asset Allocation.

She also managed EMEA focussed team members, Maintained several mentoring relationships, and was Executive Sponsor of the CTI Gender program 2020/21.

She was a frequent commentator in financial press and TV, including Bloomberg, CNBC, the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s and local European press.

Prior to CTI, Ms. Bhandari was Director, Global Macro & Asset Allocation at Citigroup, from 2011 to 2014, where she developed macro themes and investment ideas across asset classes, both tactical and strategic, for investors across fixed income, FX, equities, credit and commodities.

She was responsible for production and coordination of Citi’s monthly EM FX Forecasts and wrote regular daily, weekly and monthly publications, sharing trade ideas and asset allocation views with a strong client focus.

Other roles in her career include Head of Emerging Markets and Research Director at Lombard Street Research (2005-2011), Lead Researcher at the European Policy Centre, and a Research Assistant at the European Commission.
