Barclays Plc, a leading UK based multinational banking and financial services provider revealed the appointment of two new executives in its latest announcement. As per statement released by the firm, it has onboarded two new executives to serve as part of its executive team in Asian market region. The bank’s Chinese unit sees appointment of Carrie Chen to the role of Vice Chairman of Greater China Banking and Sung-Min Chung to the role of Head of Technology for Asia-Pacific region. Both the executives will be based out of Barclays Asian headquarters located in Hong Kong and will work towards strengthening its senior client coverage and expansion of bank’s client footprint in the region.
Ms. Chen who joins in the role of Vice Chairman is an executive with more than 15 years of experience in investment banking sector for Chinese market. Before taking up her current role at Barclays, she served in Morgan Stanley as Managing Director and Executive Director for nearly five years. Earlier in her career, she served as a Director at Deutsche Bank, Vice President and Director at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Manager for Macquarie Capital funds at Hong Kong. She began her career in financial service industry as an analyst at McKinsey and Company back in July of 2004 post graduating with a master’s degree in financial engineering from Columbia University in the City of New York.
Ms. Sung-Min Chung who joins as Head of Technology served as Group Chief Financial Officer at iTutor Group prior to joining Barclays bank. Earlier in her career, she served as Head of TMT Private Equity division for ZZ Capital International for nearly four years and as a Director for TMT Investment Banking division at Merrill Lynch for four years prior to ZZ Capital. Ms. Chung begins her career post graduating from Wharton School in the University of Pennsylvania back in 2006 and brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in technology space for cross border M&A and Capital Market verticals in the financial services industry.
