Walter Bell

Ideal Prediction, a New York-based independent trading analysis and data science services provider that primarily deals with capital market companies, has made a new addition to its senior-level leadership and management team.

As per the statement released by the firm, it has onboarded Mr. Walter Bell to serve as its Chief Technology Officer effective immediately. The newly-appointed head of technology division is a veteran with two decades of experience in the capital markets sector and has served in a wide range of roles across different asset classes. He is also renowned in the industry as one of the leading quantitative analysts and technologists.

As Chief Technology Officer, Walter is primarily responsible for leading innovation across the Ideal’s product suite. However, he is also expected to oversee the support of Ideal’s global systemically important bank (G-SIB) clients. While he is responsible for all of the firm’s technological aspects, he is expected to immediately focus on the firm’s flagship product Scope.

Scope is an award-winning independent service that facilitates the monitoring of trading activities to identify market abuse and adherence to the FX Global Code. The product is currently undergoing a redesign, and Walter is expected to help extend the tool’s coverage to accommodate cross-asset functionality for Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) surveillance and other regulatory regimes. Before taking up his current role at Ideal Predictions, he served in the roles of Global Head of Rates eTrading Quants and FIC eTrading Strategist at Bank of America Merrill Lynch for nearly five years.

Prior to that, he spent more than three and a half years serving in Credit Suisse in the roles of Electronic FX Development Lead, Trader, Consultant (Global Arbitrage Trading), and Cross-Asset Trading team lead. Earlier in his career, he served in the roles of Senior Product Manager at Broadway Technology, Consultant at Alexa Internet, and Software Architect at Intelligent Markets.

Commenting on Walter’s addition to the team, John Crouch, Founder, and CEO of Ideal Prediction said “Walter is one of the best inventors I’ve met in my career. His expertise in systems architecture and algorithmic trading is a powerful, rare combination. As Ideal’s CTO, he will evolve Ideal’s products and, most importantly, help our clients to successfully mitigate risk and improve profitability”.

Speaking about his new role at the firm, Mr. Bell said: “Bank compliance teams are demanding increasingly sophisticated services for monitoring their human and algorithmic trading. I’m excited about Ideal’s ability to use our knowledge of the intricacies of FICC trading to independently deliver advanced analytics to firms using modern and flexible technology”.
