Swissquote Selects Monica Dell’Anna as Newest Board Member

Swiss online and brokerage giant, Swissquote Group Holding SA (SWX:SQN) has announced its selection of Dr. Monica Dell’Anna as a new addition to the company’s Board of Directors. The decision was reached on a mutual consensus basis by the current board members. The proposal to appoint Ms. Dell’Anna as new board member will be brought up in the company’s next annual general meeting (AGM) scheduled to be held on May 4th, where it will receive shareholder’s nod.

In that AGM, remaining five Swissquote’s board members will also stand for re-election. The appointment process is just a formality with no serious effort by shareholders to stall it. 

Born in 1971, Monica Dell’Anna is a Swiss-Italian dual citizen has been a part of NZZ Mediengruppe since March 2016, serving as the company’s Head of Business Media and also member of the executive Board. She has a long experience of serving as a Board member of various companies including GVM (2014-2016), BKW Energy AG (2013-2015) where she also held executive roles.

Ms. Dell’Anna is a highly educated professional with degree in electrical engineering and has obtained her Phd in Telecommunications Engineering from King’s College in London. She started her career as a Research Associate for the college and then she was hired as a Consultant for Mckinsey and Company, holding the position for just over a year. Her major portion of professional life was spent with Swisscom where she held various positions on her way to top including Head of IT Transformation and Fiber to the Home (FTTH) and was also appointed as a member of the company’s Executive Board.

Her experience on handling Board issues contributed to her chances of being selected as a Board member of Swissquote. Mario Fontana, Chairman of the Board for Swissquote commented on the board’s decision: “By appointing Monica Dell’Anna, we acquire and experienced business executive with a track record on digital transformation processes. We are convinced that she will be an effective addition to our Board.”

Recently, Swissquote has changed its gear amid changes in regulatory processes and changes in the trading pattern after surge in demand for cryptocurrencies. The company has also signed a partnership agreement with Bitstamp in an effort to launch Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency trading. The company has also raised its marketing campaign highlighting several Manchester United football players.
