Gemini Taps NYSE Executive, Robert Cornish as its CTO

With cryptocurrencies disrupting the whole financial system around the world, crypto exchanges are also getting too aggressive to become a part of the mainstream world as the regulatory crisis remains. Major crypto venues are fast attracting financial industry veterans to be the part of the crypto innovation and growth. Gemini, a New York-based cryptocurrency exchange founded by Winklevoss twins has made a significant hire by tapping NYSE Chief Information Officer (CIO), Robert Cornish as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the technology team.

Gemini, in order to fully secure the platform from criminal activities such as hacking or any cyber incidences, has recently adopted Nasdaq’s SMARTS Market Surveillance system. Mr Robert Cornish will assume his role effective immediately and is tasked with the oversight for the deployment of Nasdaq’s technology and also expand product portfolio that Gemini offers to the clients. 

Robert Cornish has over two decades of experience in information management and development. Apart from his role in NYSE as CIO, he has worked with ISE Holdings as CIO & CISO, at OCC as Advisor to the Options Clearing Corporation Board of Director’s Technology Committee and at Prudential Investments as Consultant.
