Euronext has announced that it will expand Euronext Clearing’s services to include cryptocurrency exchange-traded products (ETPs). The company has structured its clearing framework to incorporate digital asset-backed financial instruments under its existing regulatory model.
Euronext has framed this expansion as a step toward integrating crypto ETPs into its regulated post-trade infrastructure. The clearing system applies standard counterparty protections and risk management procedures to these instruments.
156 crypto ETPs have been listed across Euronext markets
Anthony Attia, Global Head of Derivatives and Post-Trade at Euronext, commented, “Euronext is committed to advancing innovation within a well-regulated market while maintaining both growth and compliance. We actively collaborate with regulators to advance market innovation while maintaining a secure and transparent financial ecosystem. With the continued expansion of our EMIR-authorised clearing house, we are enhancing our services to meet our clients’ evolving needs, providing a trusted and efficient marketplace for members and investors.”
The firm has confirmed that its clearinghouse will provide settlement services for crypto ETPs listed on its exchanges. This service will operate within Euronext’s central counterparty (CCP) framework, designed to mitigate settlement risk.
As of February 2025, Euronext has reported that 156 crypto ETPs have been listed across its markets. The company has positioned this development as an extension of its existing multi-asset clearing services. Euronext Clearing has structured its operations to align with European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) requirements, providing clearing solutions that fit within established financial regulations.
Market participants engaging with crypto ETPs through Euronext will gain access to standardized clearing services that support counterparty risk reduction. Euronext has confirmed that its post-trade infrastructure will continue operating within its broader regulatory model, providing consistency across asset classes.
Institutions trading crypto ETPs will have access to clearing services that operate under the same principles as traditional financial instruments. Euronext has structured this initiative to incorporate crypto ETPs into an existing framework that supports regulated financial products.
The company has stated that it will assess additional developments in post-trade clearing as market requirements evolve. With this expansion, Euronext has introduced a clearing framework that integrates crypto ETPs within a structured financial environment.
