Clearstream To Serve As A Triparty Agent For Euronext Clearing

Euronext and Clearstream have announced a strategic partnership to develop Euronext Clearing’s collateral management services, reinforcing the clearing house’s infrastructure with advanced, scalable capabilities aimed at European and global market participants. The collaboration will go live in November 2025.

Under the agreement, Clearstream will serve as a triparty agent for Euronext Clearing, delivering automated and flexible solutions that streamline collateral selection, valuation, and substitution. As an independent third party, Clearstream will also manage settlement, custody, regulatory reporting, and provide liquidity and risk management support.

Enhanced infrastructure, collateral mobility, and clearing ecosystem

Anthony Attia, Global Head of Derivatives and Post-Trade at Euronext, commented, “This collaboration with Clearstream marks an important step in the execution of our ‘Innovate for Growth 2027’ strategy, reinforcing Euronext Clearing’s ability to deliver cutting-edge collateral and clearing solutions. As we prepare to launch the Repo Foundation in June 2025, this alliance supports the broader expansion of our repo clearing services across Europe. By working with Clearstream, we are scaling our infrastructure, enhancing collateral mobility, and building a more resilient, client-focused clearing ecosystem.”

The agreement supports Euronext’s efforts to unify its clearing operations under a pan-European model. The upcoming Repo Foundation, scheduled for launch in June 2025, represents the first phase of Euronext’s Repo Expansion Initiative, opening the platform to international participants and expanding product capabilities. Over the past three years, Euronext Clearing has evolved from a national CCP to the third-largest clearing house in Europe, integrating services across asset classes and jurisdictions.

Clearstream, with more than three decades of experience in collateral management, will contribute data-driven tools and AI-based scheduling solutions to support liquidity optimization. The firm has steadily expanded its global collateral, lending, and liquidity network, linking with CCPs, CSDs, and exchanges to provide clients with increased operational flexibility in a volatile financial environment.

Sam Riley, CEO at Clearstream Securities Services, said, “As financial markets become more unpredictable, demanding greater speed and efficiency, we stay committed to empowering our clients with reliable and scalable state-of-the-art solutions. We are delighted to partner with Euronext Clearing to deliver innovative collateral management solutions that enhance market efficiency and support sustainable growth. This collaboration reflects our commitment to building a stronger and more accessible European capital market that is well-equipped to navigate the complexities of the financial landscape of today and tomorrow.”

The partnership aligns with both firms’ goals to modernize Europe’s post-trade infrastructure and strengthen capital markets. Through the integration of automation and AI technologies, Euronext and Clearstream aim to meet rising demands for collateral flexibility and settlement resilience, while supporting broader regulatory and efficiency objectives across the clearing ecosystem.
