BitGo Appoints Andres Cifuentes as Executive Director

Andres CifuentesUS-based cryptocurrency wallet and security services provider BitGo has recently seen a new addition to its senior-level management team. The move was first made public via changes made to the executive’s LinkedIn profile according to which the executive has taken a new c-level management role at the firm.

The incoming executive Mr. Andres Cifuentes started his new role at the firm earlier this month and has taken on the role of Executive Director of Institutional Sales and is based out of the firm’s New York office. Mr. Cifuentes is a veteran in FX sales with nearly fifteen years of experience under his belt having served under several major industry-leading multinational investment banking services providers.

Before taking up his current role at the firm, Andres had served under Bats Global Markets a USA based multinational stock and forex trading marketplace provider for nearly four years. 

During his term with the US-based stock exchange operator, he held the role of Director for their FX sales division. Prior to his term at Bats Global Markets, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CBOE Global Markets, he served under another US-based banking and investment service provider Morgan Stanley where he served for six and a half years, his largest term with a financial service provider in his career history till date.

Andres joined Morgan Stanley was a Vice President for their FX Prime Brokerage business unit in October of 2009 and was promoted to serve in the role of identical capacity for the bank’s FX sales team in July of 2013 – the role he held until his resignation from the firm in February of 2016.

Andres began his career in the financial services industry post graduating with a degree in Economics and International Business from Saint Peter’s University in 2004 and started out as an analyst at Goldman Sachs, a role he held for short term of 10 months. 

Post his short stint at Goldman Sachs, he migrated to JP Morgan Chase – yet another industry-leading banking and financial service provider based out of the US where he served as part of the firm’s Prime brokerage division for four years.

It should be noted that Andres’ appointment to the firm’s c-level management role is one of BitGo’s most senior appointments to date and was most recently preceded by the appointment of Chief Revenue Officer Mr. Peter Najarian who took on his role in month of August earlier this year.

Aside from Peter, one more executive who joined BitGo’s C-level management role this year in the month of May when the firm hired Mr. Nick Carmi to serve as its new head of financial services. The firm was most recently in news for the acquisition of Hedge, a crypto start-up that specializes in providing scalable and programmatic deployment of staking infrastructure.
