Backbase, a leading fintech player with a special focus on digital banking tech recently revealed a change made to its senior-level leadership team.
As per the statement released by the firm, it has promoted Mr. Thomas Fuss who had been serving as Vice President of Technology to the role of Chief Technology Officer effectively making him the head of division and member of the firm’s executive leadership committee.
The newly appointed Chief of Technology is expected to focus on leading the firm’s overall technology strategy while also keeping a special focus on leveraging open standards and native cloud technologies to accelerate the development of its next-generation Omni-channel digital banking solutions in order to build its BaaS (banking-as-a-service) platform. Mr. Fuss has been a part of the firm for more than two and a half years now having joined the firm back in August of 2017 as its Technical Director.
Thomas is a specialist with a high level of knowledge and experience in Software Architecture and Technology verticals. He has a proven track record as evident from his decade long career during which he has built and led successful teams in a large enterprise environment.
Before joining Backbase, Thomas spent nearly five years serving under another Dutch-based leading player in the banking industry – ING Group where he climbed his way up the corporate ladder. He joined the multinational banking service provider in October of 2012 as Trainee in General Management and served in roles of Advisory IT Architect, IT Architect for Bank Management Services and Head of IT/Co-Founder of Payconiq – a payment platform which was developed as one of ING Group Innovation Special Projects. Some of the other firms he served under include – Bradler Effective Business Solutions, Bptech, University of Mannheim and Arvato Systems.
