Asta Kunyioshi appointed as Deputy Chair of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, Marius Jurgilas reappointed for a second term as Member of the Board

Dalia Grybauskaitė, President of the Republic of Lithuania, upon nomination by Vitas Vasiliauskas, Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, has appointed Asta Kuniyoshi as Deputy Chair of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania (starting from 16 May 2019), while Marius Jurgilas has been reappointed for his second term as Member of the Board.

Since 2014, A. Kuniyoshi, the newly appointed Member of the Board, has been heading the Budget Policy Monitoring Department at the National Audit office of Lithuania. Having started her career at the Ministry of Social Security and Labour in 1994, A. Kuniyoshi joined the Ministry of Finance in 2001, where she headed the European Communities’ Own Resources Division from 2003 and later – the European Union Budget Division at the Budget Department. In 2007-2012, she held the position of financial adviser at the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the European Union. Having returned to Lithuania, she worked as the Head of the European Union Budget Division of the European Union and International Affairs Department at the Ministry of Finance for three years.  A. Kuniyoshi studied systemic economic analysis at the Economics Faculty of Vilnius University.

M. Jurgilas has held the position of Member of the Board since May 2013. Prior to joining the Bank of Lithuania, he worked as Economist at the Financial Stability Research Department of the central bank of Norway (2011–2013), and for three years before that – as Economist at the central bank of the United Kingdom. The Board of the Bank of Lithuania consists of the Chairman of the Board, two Deputy Chairs and two Members of the Board. Currently, the Board comprises Vitas Vasiliauskas, Chairman of the Board, Raimondas Kuodis, Deputy Chair of the Board, Tomas Garbaravičius and Marius Jurgilas, Members of the Board.
