History
MetaQuotes' first product, the FX Charts platform for currency quotes and trading, appeared in 2000. A later platform introduced the MQL programming language for automated trading robots. A third-generation platform released under the MetaTrader name added futures trading, and the mobile applications MetaTrader CE and MetaTrader for Palm followed in 2003. MetaTrader 4 launched in 2005 with the MQL4 language, and MetaTrader 5 launched in 2010 for forex, stocks and futures.
What it sells
Brokers, banks, exchanges and hedge funds licence MetaTrader 5 or MetaTrader 4 and run the server side themselves, with desktop, web and mobile terminals for their clients. The MetaTrader 5 broker page lists netting and hedging account modes, white-label licensing, back-office functions, an integrated payment system and a service called Automations. It also describes Ultency, MetaQuotes' liquidity aggregation and order-matching engine, which it says gives brokers access to more than 30 liquidity providers. Outside the platforms, MetaQuotes runs the MQL5.community portal for developers and traders, including a market of applications, trading signals, a freelance service, virtual hosting and the MQL5 Cloud Network. It also sells Finteza, a web and traffic analytics service, and the TeamWox business management system.
Recent activity
On 14 October 2026 MetaQuotes reported that the liquidity provider FinPrime had integrated Ultency. In the second half of October it published articles on artificial intelligence in MetaTrader 5, on broker interviews from iFX EXPO Asia in Hong Kong and Forex Expo Dubai, and an announcement that it will attend The Trading Festival Mexico on 12 and 13 November 2026 in Mexico City. It states that its information security management system is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022, with the certificate valid from 19 October 2026 to 18 October 2029.
The company's site names no executives, gives no ownership details and publishes no employee count. Its legal page lists registered trademarks for MetaQuotes, MetaTrader, MT4, MT5, MQL4 and MQL5 in the European Union, United States, China, Russia and other jurisdictions.
