Hang Seng Lower, Gold at Fresh 6 Year Highs

Asian stocks finished lower today as protests in Hong Kong shut down the airport, and the recent escalation in US-China trade tensions shows no sign of relief. The Hang Seng trading 1.69 percent lower at 25,381, Nikkei225 in Japan is 1.22% lower at 20,436. The Shanghai Composite ended 0.79 percent lower to 2,792, while in Singapore, the FTSE Straits Times index finished 0,72 percent lower to 3,146. Australian equities trading lower, the ASX 200 is 0.20% lower to 6,577.

 Stefan Liu to Resign as CEO from KVB Kunlun’s FX Retail Brokerage Division

Hong Kong-based financial service provider KVB Kunlun Financial Group Ltd made an announcement earlier today stating that it has stopped the trading of the company’s shares starting 9 AM today. The statement revealed that trading activities had been paused in anticipation of the firm announcing the resignation of one of its Chief Executive Officers. The CEO mentioned in the statement is expected to be Stefan Liu who has been a part of the financial group for nearly two decades now.

Eddie Yue: Speech at the ISDA 34th Annual General Meeting in Hong Kong

Thank you for inviting me to speak at the ISDA Annual General Meeting.  For those of you coming from overseas, let me welcome you to Hong Kong and the very dynamic Asian region.  By now, I hope you have experienced and enjoyed the vibrancy of the city.  Indeed, this same vibrancy runs through Asia, which has got strong economic momentum with a promising outlook.  But as central bankers, our job is to be on the lookout for future challenges and how to overcome them.  So today I’d like to start by outlining two near-term risks on my radar screen, and then discuss two longer-term challenges for Asia.  I would then offer some thoughts on how financial sector developments, including a lot of the efforts that ISDA has been involved in, can help overcome these challenges.

Financial Commission Participated in 2019 IFX EXPO Asia in Hong Kong

The Financial Commission today announces successful participation as an exhibitor at the 2019 IFX EXPO Asia, which took place January 22-24 at the Hong Kong Convention Center.
