SEC Names Vanessa Countryman to Lead the Office of the Secretary

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that Vanessa Countryman has been appointed as the agency’s Secretary. The Secretary is responsible for overseeing the administrative aspects of Commission meetings, rulemakings, and procedures.  Ms. Countryman has served as Acting Secretary since March 2019. 

SEC Names Sean Memon as Chief of Staff

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that Sean Memon will become the agency’s Chief of Staff. Mr. Memon has served as the SEC’s Deputy Chief of Staff since May 2017.  In that capacity, Mr. Memon has served as a senior advisor to Chairman Clayton on legal, policy and management matters affecting all aspects of the agency’s mission, including rulemaking, enforcement, examinations and internal agency operations. 

Nasdaq to Add U.S. Equity Market Data on Microsoft Excel

Nasdaq is working with Microsoft to expand the use of real-time U.S. equity market data by individual investors through Excel, Bing, MSN, and other platforms, where they can leverage real-time U.S. stock equity market data from Nasdaq Last Sale to inform research and trade ideas while improving financial literacy.

SEC and CFTC Participate in the Signing Ceremony for the IOSCO Enhanced Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding Concerning Cross-Border Enforcement

At the 44th Annual International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Conference in Sydney, Australia, the Chairmen of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) participated in a signing ceremony on May 15 for the IOSCO Enhanced Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding Concerning Consultation and Cooperation and the Exchange of Information (EMMoU).

10 Formal AML/CFT Warnings Issued by FMA

The FMA carried out a risk-based assessment of independent audit reports for reporting entities it supervises in February this year, targeting 69 reporting entities. The FMA supervises around 800 reporting entities, of whom roughly two-thirds define themselves as financial advisers.

The package of documents published contains the majority of the final instruments and guidance, following the February publication of the FCA’s Policy Statement with near-final instruments.
