SET Announces Listed Companies that Meet Preliminary Criteria for SET Awards 2020

SET - SET AwardsBANGKOK, June 8, 2020 – The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), in collaboration with Money & Banking magazine, has announced 605 listed companies that meet the preliminary criteria for SET Awards 2020 scheduled to be organized at the end of the year.

SET President Pakorn Peetathawatchai said that SET places importance on promoting listed companies and all groups of member companies to operate their businesses to achieve well-balanced growth both quantitatively and qualitatively. We officially recognize their performance through the annual SET Awards event as we value their outstanding operating performance and world-class quality, becoming role models in the capital market. This year, a total of 605 listed companies have fulfilled the preliminary criteria. The award presentation ceremony will be held later on at the end of the year.

“In times of troubles like COVID-19 pandemic, we have tried harder to keep the project going. However, we decided to present the awards for Business Excellence category with no awards for Sustainability Excellence category. In this connection, SET is still committed to uplifting potential and quality of listed companies to ensure they continuously run their businesses in line with environmental, social and governance or ESG principles,” added Pakorn.

Santi Viriyarungsarit, Editor-in-Chief of Money & Banking Magazine – the SET Awards co-host and one of the distinguished judges in the SET Awards 2020, said that the SET Awards presentation has been a major event to look forward to each year. The awards in each category are inclusively meaningful to related parties in the capital market and are regarded as prestigious awards, substantially reflecting stability and sustainability of Thailand’s capital market.

“2020 is a challenging year for all listed companies due to the COVID-19 spread which widely and severely impact the global economy. The crisis is also causing global economic slowdown which affects listed companies’ businesses. Many of them have to adapt and adjust their business strategies considerably to cope with the New Normal era,” added Santi.

This year the SET Awards will be presented to listed-companies, securities companies, asset management companies, and financial advisory companies. The Business Excellence category consists of seven awards as follows: 1) Best Investor Relations Awards; 2) Best Innovative Company Awards; 3) Best Securities Company Awards; 4) Best Asset Management Company Award; 5) Best Company Performance Awards; 6) Best Deal of the Year Award; and 7) Best CEO Awards & Young Rising Star CEO Award.

In addition, the SET Awards of Honor are to be presented to companies or individuals who have retained their excellence in respective areas for three consecutive years or more.
