Marco Baggioli Becomes COO of M-DAQ Group

M-DAQ GroupM-DAQ Group, a Singapore based fintech firm backed by Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has promoted one of its senior-level executives as per changes made to the executive’s LinkedIn account. Mr. Marco Baggioli, a veteran with three decades of experience serving in banks and trading service providers in the major global market has been serving as part of the M-DAQ for eight months now.

Marco joined the firm back in March earlier this year taking on the role of General Manager of Business Development & Chief of Staff – CEO’s office and has been promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer which came into effect earlier this month. While he takes on the role of COO, he still retains his older role as General Manager of Business Development.

Alongside his responsibilities as part of the M-DAQ group’s senior-level leadership & management team. He also serves as a member of the board at Bikevo – an Italian sports coaching firm and UK based apparel manufacturer Ashmei Group Ltd. 

Prior to joining the M-DAQ group, he served as part of UAE based trading service provider ADSS for nearly two years and seven months serving in several roles of leadership capacity. He joined the firm in its UK office as Chief Operating Officer, but moved to the firm’s head office in Abu Dhabi when he was promoted to the role of Executive Managing Director of Global Brokerage and served as Chief Operating Officer for ADSS group at time of his resignation from the firm having held the role for nearly six months.

Before his term at ADSS, he served at BNP Paribas for five years handling the bank’s forex business operations across Europe, Asian, Middle East & Africa market regions. He joined the firm as Head of FX Prime Brokerage for Europe in March of 2010 and became head of OTC clearing & FXPB Sales EMEA & Asia in January 2013. He was then promoted to the role of Global Head of FX Prime Brokerage Sales & Product based out of the bank’s London office from February of 2014 to September 2014 post which he was promoted yet again to the role of Global Head of FX Prime Brokerage.

However, this was not his first rodeo at BNP Paribas as he had served as Managing Director and Head of New Markets at BNP Paribas earlier in his career from 1995 to 1999. He has also served as Managing Director of Prime Brokerage Sales For Europe at Deutsche Bank, Director at Merrill Lynch and Managing Director at JP Morgan in between his two separate tenures at BNP Paribas. Marco started his career in the financial services industry in 1990 as Management Trainee at Citi Bank N.A. post graduating with a degree in economics and business administration from Bocconi University in Italy.

Aside from BNP Paribas, he spent a major part of his career serving at JP Morgan where similar to his dual term at the former bank, he served two separate brief terms from 1991-95 as Vice President of JP Morgan at Milan and again from 2002 to 2007 in roles of Senior VP and Managing Director. M-DAQ the Singapore based fintech is currently valued at more than 200 Million USD post receiving 87 Million USD from Ant Financial, an Alibaba affiliate during its series C funding round.
