Malaysia’s Labuan IBFC opens China desk

The China desk, offering tailored development strategies, insights into China-specific market trends, a team skilled in Chinese business culture, and networking with Chinese stakeholders, is expected to enhance bilateral trade and investment.

Labuan IBFC Incorporated Sdn Bhd, the promotional entity for Labuan International Business and Financial Centre, has launched the Labuan IBFC China Desk.

This move aligns with Malaysia’s ongoing trading relationship with China, its top trading partner for 15 years, highlighting a record USD156 billion in trade for the first 10 months of 2023.

The establishment of the China Desk coincides with significant bilateral milestones, including the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 11th year of the China-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Labuan IBFC will serve as a gateway

Datuk Iskandar Mohd Nuli, Executive Chairman cum CEO of Labuan IBFC Inc. said: “The time is ripe for Labuan IBFC to establish the Labuan IBFC China Desk to facilitate Chinese companies’ entry into the region for investments and business expansion. Ultimately, Labuan IBFC will serve as a gateway to promote bilateral trades, investments, and cross-border business expansion between Malaysia and China, as well as with the rest of the region.”

The China Desk aims to facilitate investments and business expansion for Chinese companies in Malaysia and the region, reflecting Labuan IBFC’s role as a strategic gateway. The China desk, offering tailored development strategies, insights into China-specific market trends, a team skilled in Chinese business culture, and networking with Chinese stakeholders, is expected to enhance bilateral trade and investment.

This initiative is expected to bolster economic and trade exchanges, support cross-border business development, and strengthen the business relationship between Labuan IBFC and Chinese businesses, offering new opportunities for industry advancement and strategic cooperation.
