Fireblocks hires ex-NYDFS Peter Marton and ex-EY Chaitanya Reddy Konda

“On-chain digital identity and smart contracts are fundamental building blocks for a secure and accessible digital asset ecosystem. When a product like this is offered as part of the largest institutional digital asset transfer network, it has the potential to be transformative.”

In a move aimed at fortifying its digital asset infrastructure and bolstering compliance protocols, Fireblocks has announced key additions to its leadership team.

The enterprise platform, known for its secure management of digital assets, has brought on Peter Marton, a veteran crypto regulator from the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), and Chaitanya Reddy Konda, a leading cryptographer who notably worked on EY’s Nightfall project.

Marton to run Digital Identity, Konda to work on Digital Identity & Privacy products

Marton, who will serve as Director of Digital Identity, is a recognized authority in digital asset regulation and will report directly to Fireblocks’ Chief Legal & Compliance Officer, Jason Allegrante. “Peter’s unparalleled experience in developing regulatory frameworks will be invaluable as we develop on-chain identity and programmable compliance solutions aimed at transforming the digital and financial markets,” said Allegrante.

Konda, assuming the role of Senior Technical Product Manager, Digital Identity & Privacy, brings her vast expertise in applied cryptography, particularly in zero-knowledge proofs. She will report to Fireblocks’ VP of Web3 & Tokenization, Salick Cogan.

The appointments aim to advance Fireblocks’ initiative to develop crypto-native technologies that could eliminate illicit activity and enhance consumer protection in the digital asset ecosystem. Marton shared his enthusiasm, stating, “On-chain digital identity and smart contracts are fundamental building blocks for a secure and accessible digital asset ecosystem. When a product like this is offered as part of the largest institutional digital asset transfer network, it has the potential to be transformative.”

Fireblocks sees on-chain digital identity combined with smart contracts as the most effective way to transition global compliance standards to the blockchain context. This will enable thousands of businesses, ranging from financial institutions to Web3 corporations, to meet or exceed existing regulations more efficiently.

Konda echoed this sentiment, saying, “At Fireblocks, I see an opportunity to apply my expertise on a larger scale, contributing to a solution that could redefine how we think about digital identity, compliance, and customer protection.”

These strategic appointments come as Fireblocks continues to evolve rapidly, providing customers with full control over the lifecycle of their digital assets, from tokenization and secure storage to payment workflows and asset transfers via the Fireblocks Network.

With over $4 trillion in digital assets secured, the platform serves thousands of financial institutions and offers a unique insurance policy covering assets in storage and transit. The bolstered leadership team and enhanced focus on compliance and digital identity are likely to make Fireblocks an even more formidable player in the digital asset space.
