This collective, representing a vast community of over 170 million members globally, has showcased unprecedented unity through the “Bitcoin Deserves an Emoji” campaign.

The 50-day Change.org petition will culminate in a formal proposal to the Unicode Consortium within their 2024 submission period.

Nexo leading the Bitcoin emoji initiative

Within a mere week of its launch, the movement successfully garnered the support of 10,000 individuals who signed a petition directed at the Unicode Consortium. The campaign’s goal is to reach 50,000 signatures, underscoring the significant cultural and technological influence of Bitcoin.

The initiative is endorsed by a wide array of organizations including Brink, Bitget, Chainalysis, Kraken, Polygon, and many others, totaling more than 35 crypto leaders. This campaign’s rapid gain in momentum is a testament to the crypto community’s solidarity, surpassing previous emoji advocacy efforts by major brands like Taco Bell and Tinder, which took years to achieve their goals.

Nexo, the leading digital asset services provider that has processed over $130 billion for more than 7 million users across over 200 jurisdictions since its launch, has been leading the “Bitcoin Deserves an Emoji” campaign.

Kosta Kantchev, Co-founder & Executive Chairman of Nexo, said: “Bitcoin’s $1.34T market dominance calls for a unified symbol on all keyboards. With 1.26B total Bitcoin addresses and 190,000+ professionals and tech pioneers pushing the global community forward, the Bitcoin Emoji is long overdue.”

Emojis, which began as simple pictographs in Japan during the 1990s, have evolved into fundamental aspects of digital communication, transcending language barriers and reflecting societal values. The proposed Bitcoin emoji aims to symbolize the cryptocurrency’s indispensable role in modern digital and financial ecosystems, emphasizing principles of decentralization, transparency, and security.

Bitcoin Deserves an Emoji” is supported by Nexo, Brink, Bitget, Chainalysis, Kraken, Polygon, Brave, BTC Inc, Hacken, CryptoQuant, Nansen, Unstoppable Domains, Liquity, Mara, Busha, Zulu, Bware Labs, Texture Capital, Meta4 Capital, Sift, MarketAcross, Bitcompare, Bithomp, Milk Road, Crypto Oasis, Cadenza, FinanceFeeds, DA Capital, Relayz, xPortal, Zima Bank, Vizsla Inu, WW Ventures, NGC Ventures, Fountain, Fact Protocol, Relai, and many more.

The campaign marks a significant moment in cryptocurrency history with BTC’s new all-time high, ahead of the fourth Bitcoin halving.
