ADGM launches online dispute resolution platform designed for a global audience

“The world is rapidly evolving and so must we. ODR@ADGM is an accessible tool for parties to remain in control of the resolution of their dispute, with accessibility, speed, and autonomy as key principles of the platform.”

The ADGM Arbitration Centre, responding to the high demand for its services as a premier dispute resolution hub, is introducing “ODR@ADGM.”

This platform represents a significant leap in online dispute resolution, offering a fully digitalized service for settlement and mediation.

Designed for a global audience, it enables parties from any location to engage in dispute resolution either through self-guided negotiations or mediation by internationally accredited mediators.

“Expanding the reach of mediation as a preferred form of dispute resolution”

According to ADGM, ODR@ADGM is a secure, confidential platform emphasizing the autonomy of the parties in resolving their disputes. It can be accessed remotely and effortlessly at any time via its website.

The process is straightforward: parties can submit a dispute on the platform and answer a series of questions that help formulate a tailored settlement offer to the other party. Once both parties join the platform, they can begin online negotiations with flexible deadlines to suit their individual needs and schedules. If a settlement is reached, the platform provides a template settlement agreement for a self-driven resolution, though parties also have the option to draft their own agreement with legal assistance.

If negotiations don’t lead to a settlement, the parties can opt for mediation. In this phase, the mediator works diligently and confidentially to help the parties find common ground and reach a mutually acceptable compromise. This digital platform offers significant time and cost savings, allowing businesses to resolve disputes without disrupting their daily operations.

This innovation follows other initiatives like the “Mediation in the Metaverse” and the use of blockchain technology by ADGM Courts for enforcing commercial judgments globally.

Linda Fitz-Alan, Registrar and Chief Executive of ADGM Courts, highlighted the organization’s commitment to continuous digital innovation. “The world is rapidly evolving and so must we. ODR@ADGM is an accessible tool for parties to remain in control of the resolution of their dispute, with accessibility, speed, and autonomy as key principles of the platform. Importantly, this new platform allows us to continue our mission of expanding the reach of mediation as a preferred form of dispute resolution. ADGM is once again proving that there is a myriad of ways to shift the paradigm of dispute resolution, bringing sustainability to the fore.”
