Brian Franz Appointed as Chief Information Officer at State Street

Brian cioState Street Corporation, a US-based banking service provider recently revealed in an announcement that it has appointed a new Chief Information Officer.

As per the statement released by the firm, it has appointed Mr. Brian Franz as its new Chief Information Officer and his role comes into effect starting 1st January 2020. His new role as Chief Information Office also makes him a member of the bank’s management committee, its senior-most strategy, and the policy-making group. The statement revealed that Franz’s appointment as CIO reflects its priority to achieve the status of the digital-first organization with an emphasis on client and employee experience, agile innovation and productivity.

Mr. Franz will serve his role as CIO based out of the bank’s office located in London and will be reporting to Chief Operating Officer Lou Maiuri. The incoming executive is a veteran with vast knowledge and expertise in dealing with both consumer and business-oriented brands. He is currently serving as Chief Productivity Officer at Diageo PLC, a wine and spirits manufacturer and is a part of the firm’s executive committee.

As CPO of the firm, he is responsible for its global productivity, technology and shared services. Franz has been with the winemaker for nearly 12 years now having joined the firm back in March of 2008 as the Global CIO & Head of Business Services. Prior to his term with the winemaker, he has also served in numerous senior-level management and leadership roles at a wide range of industry-leading firms.

Some of his most notable roles include – Chief Information Officer for Pepsi Co International, Commercial CIO and several other management roles at General Electric & GE Capital and technology leadership role at AT&T.

Franz is considered an expert with vast experience in the deployment of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotics and has reputation for driving efficiency and effectiveness during his past roles which helped those firms achieve substantial business growth and client satisfaction. His most notable achievement during his term with the winemaker is his contribution and leadership in an initiative that helped the firm see more than 700 million Pounds in savings and advanced business growth. 

This initiative saw the implementation of cloud-powered, globally scaled and standardized solutions in the firm which he achieved given his extensive experience in the area of cyber resiliency.
