Standard Chartered Promotes Anshu Sharma Raja as CIO for Consumer, Private and Business Banking

Standard Chartered has promoted Anshu Sharma Raja to Chief Information Officer, Consumer, Private & Business Banking (CPBB), based in Singapore and reporting to group CIO Michael Gorriz.

Effective 1 August, 2021, Ms. Raja will replace Paul Macpherson, the CIO for CPBB since 2010, who will pursue opportunities outside the Bank.

Anshu Sharma Raja first joined the bank in September 2018 as Global Head, Retail Banking Products Technology. There, she led and delivered the modernization of the bank’s digital platform for individual and business banking clients.

She was also instrumental in setting up a high performing engineering centre in Bangalore, strengthening technology and innovation capabilities and engineering talent across the bank’s tech development centres in India, China and Malaysia.

Prior to Standard Chartered, Ms. Raja was SVP Technology Infrastructure at Vodafone, leading IT estate across 25 locations and 15,000+ end users, and data centres. There, she was responsible for strategy and execution including data center build out, cloud and virtualization. and management of a complex multivendor and partner environment.

She was also responsible for setting up and grow a data science center of excellence in Bangalore for AIG Science. Prior to that, Ms. Raja was Vice President at Goldman Sachs, where she led market data analytics and software development and was responsible for Vendor Management, Business analysis, Financial Reporting, Inventory Management functions in the region.
