LCH Appoints Rohit Verma as Head of APAC

LCH has appointed Rohit Verma as Head of Asia Pacific, based in Singapore and reporting to Isabelle Girolami, Chief Executive Officer at LCH Ltd.

Rohit Verma will be responsible for LCH’s operations in Asia Pacific, such as the clearing house’s operations in Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo.

Also leading the sales efforts in the region, the industry veteran joins LCH to replace Kate Birchall’s move to London earlier this year, to assume the role of Head of Sales, LCH.

Bringing over 20 years’ experience in derivatives markets to the role, Rohit Verma joins LCH from Citi, where he was APAC Head of OTC Clearing and FX Prime Brokerage after having held a number of senior roles in the bank’s futures, OTC clearing and FX prime brokerage business.

Prior to joining Citi in 2012, his career included risk management roles at Deutsche Bank, Landesbank-Baden Württemberg, and Credit Suisse, having begun his career at Siemens in India.

Isabelle Girolami, CEO, LCH Ltd, commented: “I am delighted to welcome Rohit to LCH to lead our team in Asia. Rohit has extensive experience of the derivatives markets in Asia and across the world. Asia Pacific is a region of strategic growth and importance for LCH and I look forward to working with him and our local teams to grow our presence further.”

Rohit Verma, Head of Asia Pacific at LCG, said: “Asia is an immensely diverse and dynamic region and LCH is committed to supporting the markets in mitigating risk and promoting capital efficiencies in multiple asset classes. I am excited to steer LCH’s business in Asia Pacific, driving growth across the region and enabling our members and their clients to benefit from LCH’s operationally streamlined, capital efficient risk management platforms.”

LCH was recently in the news for hiring James Pearson as Head of ForexClear, the FX derivatives clearing service. He will oversee its continued growth from the London office.

ForexClear has reported $19.1 trillion cleared across the service in 2020. In January 2021, the business went live clearing Non-Deliverable Options, a complementary product to its existing offering of non-deliverable FX forwards, deliverable FX options and deliverable FX forwards.

LCH operates an open access model, offering a choice of execution venues, delivering unprecedented choice and efficiencies to the marketplace. It offers clearing services across asset classes including OTC and listed rates; CDS and FX; fixed income; commodities; cash equities and equity derivatives.
