Worldline becomes a key payments provider for Google in Europe

Worldline will leverage Google Cloud’s analytics tools to extract valuable insights and, by expanding their partnership, the firm will serve as one of Google’s key payment providers in Europe and other geographies.

Worldline initiated a “Move to Cloud” program since 2022, focusing on digital transformation into a global premium paytech company. To accelerate this trajectory, Worldline has announced its plans to leverage Google Cloud’s secure, high-performance, and low-latency infrastructure.

This strategic move aims to enhance operational efficiency, optimize costs, and improve overall strategic positioning.

“We can accelerate innovation in the payment industry”

Google Cloud’s data analytics and AI capabilities will be employed by Worldline to extract valuable insights from its data, leading to the development of new payment products and services. Notably, Worldline’s choice of Google Cloud aligns with its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the sustainability options offered by Google Cloud.

Expanding their partnership, Worldline will serve as one of Google’s key payment providers in Europe and other geographies. This collaboration seeks to provide Google customers with advanced payment options, broader support for payment networks, enhanced cross-border conversion, and an improved customer experience.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, said: “Our partnership with Worldline underscores the wide range of opportunities that secure and reliable cloud technology, data analytics, and AI can bring to merchants and financial institutions. By bringing together the strengths of our two companies, we can accelerate innovation in the payment industry.”

Gilles Grapinet, CEO of Worldline, added: “Innovation and advanced technology are at the core of Worldline’s DNA. To trailblaze changing payment environments and not only meet but anticipate customer expectations, it is key to couple our Paytech DNA with the technological capabilities of a true market leader. We are very proud to expand and strengthen our partnership as a payment provider for Google in Europe. Our deep market infrastructure understanding, combined with Google Cloud’s technology expertise and scale, will accelerate our time-to-market and drive tangible success for our customers and markets.”

Worldline secured MPI license in Singapore

Last month, Worldline’s subsidiary, GCS APAC, secured a Major Payment Institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

This milestone positions Worldline as a key player in Singapore’s financial landscape, allowing the company to offer domestic and cross-border payments, as well as merchant acquiring services.

With the MAS license, Worldline aims to bring its innovative payment technology solutions to the rapidly expanding Asian market, addressing the increasing demand from local and international merchants.

The move aligns with Worldline’s strategic push into the wider Asian region, complementing its presence in Japan, South Korea, and India, and reflects the company’s commitment to staying at the forefront of innovation in the dynamic payment industry.
