Asian Equities Higher, As U.S. Earnings Season Kicks Off

Asian indices finished higher today as US stocks hit record highs last Friday. The Hang Seng finished 0.29 percent higher at 28,554. The Shanghai Composite finished 0.40 percent higher to 2,942, while in Singapore the FTSE Straits Times index finished 0.18 percent lower to 3,347. The Nikkei225 was closed. Australian equities ended 0.65 percent lower at 6,653.

Asian Equities Higher, Gold Retreats

Asian indices finished higher today as US stocks hit record highs overnight. The Nikkei225 finished 0.20 percent higher at 21,685 the Hang Seng finished 0.25 percent higher at 28,504. The Shanghai Composite finished 0.51 percent higher to 2,937, while in Singapore the FTSE Straits Times index finished 0.15 percent higher to 3,355. Australian equities ended 0.3 percent lower at 6,695 as tourist arrivals rose by 6.3% in May, the biggest monthly lift in international visitors since April 2017.

Equities Mixed, BTC Breaks Below 10,000

Asian indices finished mixed today as investors turn cautious after the U.S. agreed to halt additional tariffs on China and to start the negotiations again. The Nikkei225 finished 0.11 percent higher at 21,754; the Hang Seng added 1.13 percent at 28,861. The Shanghai Composite finished 0.03 percent lower to 3,043, while in Singapore the FTSE Straits Times index finished 0.12 percent higher to 3,367. Australian equities closed up 0.1% to 6,653.

Safe Haven Assets Lower, Equities Rally

Asian indices started on positive tone today as investors sentiment improved after the U.S. agreed to halt additional tariffs on China and to start again the negotiations. The Nikkei225 finished 2.13 percent higher at 21,729 the Shanghai Composite finished 2.22 percent higher to 3,044, while in Singapore, the FTSE Straits Times index finished 1.54 percent higher to 3,372. Australian equities ended stronger on Monday as ASX200 added 29 points or 0.4% to 6,648. 

Asian Equities Finished Lower in Choppy Trading

Asian indices finished lower today as traders focus turn to G210 meeting in Osaka, Japan. The Nikkei225 finished 0.51 percent lower to 21,086. The Hang Seng benchmark in Hong Kong finished 0.15 percent higher at 28,231. The Shanghai Composite finished 0.20 percent lower to 2,976, while in Singapore, the FTSE Straits Times index finished 0.14 percent lower to 3,299. Australian equities finished lower today with The ASX200 down 17 points lower at 6640.5.

Asian Equities Bullish Following Wall Street’s Rebound

Asian equities followed Wall Street’s late rebound higher, in Tokyo Nikkei 225 index lost 0.4%, Hang Seng Index, rose 0.10 percent, while the Shanghai Composite index was up 0.35%. The S&P/ASX 200 Index rose 103.4 points or 1.9% to 5596.3 points, its best performance since November 2016.

Global Stocks on late Santa Rally

Santa arrived a little later than expected this year. Asian equities followed Wall Street Santa rally. In Tokyo, Nikkei 225 index rebounded impressively gaining 3.7% after heavy losses (more than 5%) on Tuesday. Hang Seng Index which reopened after the Christmas holiday rose 0.6 percent, while the Shanghai Composite index was up 0.5%.
