The World Federation of Exchanges holds Working Committee Meeting in Zürich, Switzerland

The World Federation of Exchanges (“WFE”), the global industry group for exchanges and CCPs, today held the second of its three annual 70-member Working Committee meetings. The meeting was hosted by SIX Swiss Exchange in Zürich, Switzerland.

The WFE WoCo consists of representatives from all 70 WFE members. Its role is to discuss and agree the ongoing work of the WFE and its forward agenda. The WoCo meeting combines public policy work with capacity building sessions and seminars, and also provides a forum where key issues impacting the industry and market structure more broadly are considered. As a result, the WoCo ensures that the WFE and its members continue to remain aware of and responsive to the issues that affect its broader stakeholders.

The World Federation of Exchanges responds to IOSCO’s Sustainable Finance Network

The World Federation of Exchanges (“WFE”), the global industry group for exchanges and CCPs, has today responded to International Organization of Securities Commissions’ (IOSCO) Sustainable Finance Network (SFN) survey, which aims to inform the SFN of sustainable finance-related initiatives taken or planned by securities regulators and market participants, and initiatives taken by international bodies, industry lead groups and standard-setters regarding sustainable finance and how these relate to the role of securities regulators.

LSEG Acquires Beyond Ratings to Integrate ESG Into Fixed Income

Beyond Ratings will sit within LSEG’s Information Services Division (ISD), which also includes FTSE Russell, and will operate as a contained business within the ISD. London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has acquired Beyond Ratings, a provider of smart data and analytics that integrates Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) into fixed income.

The World Federation of Exchanges responds to FCA’s Guidance on Cryptoassets

In its response, the WFE highlights the importance of distinguishing between so-called cryptoasset ‘exchanges’ and the regulated, secure and lit markets that real exchanges provide. The WFE cautions that careless usage of the label ‘exchange’ may give investors a false sense of security, leading them to believe such platforms meet the regulatory standards of real exchanges that are regulated and offer transparent public markets. In describing a platform as an exchange, they should demonstrate that they meet appropriate standards. If the term ‘exchanges’ is going to be used in relation to cryptoasset platforms, the WFE urges the FCA to enforce standard exchange regulations to ensure cryptoasset platforms are compliant with the rules adhered to by exchanges. 

LSEG Joins World Federation of Exchanges
