Pump.fun exec arrested for $1.9 million exploit, claims bail in UK

Jarett Dunn, a former employee of the memecoin creator and trading platform pump.fun, claims he was arrested and subsequently released on bail in the United Kingdom following a $1.9 million exploit on the platform.

Dunn, who operates under the X username “STACCoverflow,” admitted responsibility for the attack on May 16.

Pump.fun alleges that Dunn used a “privileged position” to access a “withdraw authority,” compromising the protocol’s systems. Dunn confirmed the allegations in a series of posts on May 18 from a different X account, stating that he “spent overnight in custody” and was charged with “theft from employer” for $2 million and conspiracy to steal an additional $80 million. He added that he was “released on bail and mental health sectioned.”

Dunn, a Canadian national, revealed that he is currently being held in a hospital, posting updates from an iPad provided to him. He mentioned that his mental health status was questioned, and he might be deemed unfit for a police interview, which could take place after his bail if he is considered fit for questioning.

In his posts, Dunn stated that the local embassy emailed his family a list of lawyers, but he is unable to communicate with them until he recovers his devices, two of which have been seized by authorities. He also noted that he still possesses his passport and was not cautioned against leaving the country.

Dunn must return to a police station on August 15, according to a message he reportedly sent to another X user, The Rollup. The account also claimed that a private intelligence company was hired to locate Dunn in London.

In another post, Dunn urged UK citizens to file charges against a locally-based company he claimed is associated with pump.fun. He stated that his bail conditions prohibit him from communicating with the firm and its CEO.
