Eid al-Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice is a religious holiday of Muslims all over the world devoted to the unstinting faith of the Prophet Ibrahim. It is accompanied by the climax of Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca and is traditionally characterized by special prayers and the performance of a ritual slaughter of animals whose meat is divided between fourths of the sacrificing person: two-thirds are distributed among the poor and the needy.
The celebrations during the current year were held on 5-9 June. Keeping with the theme of the holiday, Octa also added its philanthropic efforts to needy communities in both Malaysia and Indonesia so that more families would know the magic and the honor of the holiday.

In Malaysia, Octa has again teamed up with its long-time partner, Azeehan, which is a respected Kelantanese charity organization to be able to implement its Eid al-Adha program. The two also donated Qurbani meat to hundreds of vulnerable members of the community making them have their festive dinner during this significant holiday.

The processing of Single Mothers in Indonesia
In Indonesia, Octa collaborated with the Indonesian-based nonprofit-organization IDEP, which is specialized in grassroots development activities to help the single mothers of Bali, in regard to the Family Bucket Project. Such women often have to confront more economic and social difficulties caused by random employment and a lack of both legal guarantees and sources of education and training, all of which are worsened in times of major holidays such as Eid al-Adha.
Octa and IDEP also provided customized packages of assistance to 37 single-mother families to meet these urgent needs. These care packages provided useful, life-saving assistance so that the recipients could feed their children and enjoy the holiday with dignity and not deprived of participation.
A spokesperson of IDEP added that thanks to our partnership with Octa we not only were able to provide women struggling to beat the odds with material support, but also hope and encouragement.
