Lemon.markets hires Markus Gunter to lead fintech into regulated brokerage

Berlin-based fintech lemon.markets has appointed Markus Gunter as Managing Director to help develop and expand the firm’s brokerage operation, lemon.markets brokerage GmbH.

The neo broker will leverage Markus Gunter’s expertise, including decades of experience in driving innovation in the financial sector, in its quest to become a regulated brokerage provider.

Markus Gunter joins lemon.markets after successfully shaping the Asset Management industry as Managing Director at Activest and Pioneer Investments.

The executive was CEO of DirektAnlageBank AG and N26 Bank GmbH, where he played a major role in building and scaling innovative direct brokerage and mobile banking businesses, gaining extensive experience in establishing innovative companies among customers, partners and authorities.

The brokerage operation leverages a team of veterans that previously worked at Klarna, Solaris, N26, Trade Republic and other names within the industry.

Earlier this year, lemon.markets secured one of the largest seed funding rounds in Europe with €15M in financing co-led by leading venture capitalists Lakestar and Lightspeed, with participation from existing investors Creandum, System.one and a wide range of angel investors.
