The team behind the popular Telegram-based game Hamster Kombat announced that its token, HMSTR, will be listed on several cryptocurrency exchanges following an upcoming airdrop.
The token will be available on Bybit, Bitfinex, and Okx, though there has been no confirmation of a listing on Binance.
Hamster Kombat, described as a “crypto exchange CEO simulator,” has become the most popular Telegram mini app in the idle game genre.
The airdrop is scheduled for September 26 and will see the distribution of HMSTR tokens to millions of users. Hamster Kombat, which boasts over 300 million active users, expects these users to trade their tokens on the announced platforms.
Okx was the first exchange confirmed to list HMSTR, with the announcement made on August 30. Bybit followed on September 3, already offering pre-market trading options for the token. On September 6, Bitfinex also confirmed that it would list HMSTR.
While no information has been provided regarding a potential listing on Binance, more partner exchanges could be announced before the token generation event.
Hamster Kombat is facing legal issues in Russia, where angel investors claim they financed part of the game’s development and are entitled to revenue shares. There are concerns that these legal issues could affect HMSTR’s chances of getting listed on certain exchanges. However, the team’s negotiations with exchanges remain unaffected, as shown by their confirmed partnerships.
According to Hamster Kombat’s whitepaper, the airdrop is expected to be the largest ever in the Web3 industry, with 60% of the airdrop’s volume dedicated to players. The remaining 40% will be allocated for market liquidity, ecosystem partnerships and grants, rewarding squads, and other items.
The team initially planned the airdrop for July but postponed it due to technical challenges, which made it “impossible to predict” the original date.
No venture capital or early investments back the token, meaning its value will be driven purely by organic demand and community interest, as per the announcement.
The Hamster Kombat airdrop aims to surpass previous records, including Uniswap’s UNI airdrop, which is valued at over $6.43 billion.
