The team at Finance Feeds are happy to announce the launch of our Podcast series, available on Spotify and hosted by our Editor-in-Chief Nikolai Isayev.

In the first episode, Nikolai interviewed Dmitri Galinov, Founder and CEO of 24 Exchange, the fast-growing OTC ECN addressing market challenges such as fragmented pools of liquidity and increasingly costly access fees and data.

Dmitri Galinov: 24 Exchange, SEC license, Crypto Winter, and Soviet background

Mr. Galinov spoke about 24 Exchange’s innovative approach to over-the-counter crypto trading and the application for an SEC license to operate the 24X National Exchange LLC, which would operate 24/7, 365 days a year – a move that would disrupt markets as we know it.

The timing for the SEC’s review and approval will be determined solely by the agency, but Dmitri Galinov said he expects a decision later this year.

The 24 Exchange chief executive also went into detail about this year’s ‘Crypto Winter’ as he explained how the depreciation of assets and bankruptcies were triggered by too much leverage and people taking credit risks without understanding them.

“The positive thing coming from this experience is that now the firms are becoming more conservative”, he said, likening the crypto winter to the housing market bust in 2008. Mr. Galinov added that crypto overall is doing very well on the infrastructure side as big banks continue to join the ecosystem.

Dmitri Galinov also spoke about his personal background before moving to the US at the age of 17. His mixed upbringing, exposed to different religions and cultures (Jewish and Tatar), allowed him to grow as a very open-minded person. He studied at the Kazan State Finance and Economics Institute from 1991 to 1993, where he developed his math skillset before moving to the US and study at the NY Baruch College and the NYU Stern School of Business.
