CFTC Says Millennials Vulnerable to Scams

James McDonald is the CFTC’s Director of the Division of Enforcement and he stated, ““We have seen an increase in the number of unregistered entities and individuals illegally pedaling apps, websites, and social media to retail customers for trading in forex and binary options. Many of these entities and individuals specifically target Millennials, who may be less experienced investors.”

Transforming from LIBOR to SOFR

In April 2018, the Secured Overnight Financing Rate (SOFR) went live. The SOFR aims to solve many of the deficiencies of LIBOR, namely a lack of trading. “The SOFR has lots of transactions. In fact, it is 100% transaction based.” O’Connor said. O’Connor said there were about $750 billion worth of trades in SOFR daily.

Giancarlo Lays Out SWAP Reg Vision

Giancarlo announced that the CFTC would soon release a white paper laying out a new vision for cross-border swaps regulation.

“I want to propose an updated and improved vision for cross-border swaps regulation by outlining for you the content of a White Paper I will publish in the near future. This White Paper will assess the CFTC’s application of its swaps rules to cross-border activities and make concrete recommendations for improvements.”Giancarlo stated.

Beacon Platform “is a financial technology company that delivers a cloud-based, end-to-end development and production platform.” According to their site.
Higgins, as Busch mentioned, has his Ph.D. an astro-physics from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario.
